Today The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track of a Parisian techno duo formed by Cyril and Jérémy aka Wlders.  "Bat Sanctuary" comes off the Skryptöm 62 EP on PAris based Skryptöm Records.

Inspired by artists from all backgrounds, in Wlders' productions or on stage they like to make their audience travel between industrial sounds, pounding rhythms and hypnotic melodies. Being at ease behind the decks or their machines, the duo has gained admiration for their live appearances. 

The composition "Bat Sanctuary", remixed by London based sound producer Rommek, delivers high quality industrial and distorted sounds with dramatic bass line and brutal breaks.

PREMIERE: Wlderz - Bat Sanctuary (Rommek Remix) [Skryptöm]

For the first release of 2023, 47 welcomes Berlin-based DJ and producer Linn Elisabet to its roster. An artist with a singular background in choral singing and gender studies, their work explores techno as a vehicle for transgression and non-compliance. 47034 sits at the nexus of these practices; using searing swathes of rhythmic noise, operatic vocals and broken beats, it explores the space where functional, forward-looking dance music and non-traditional sound design meet.

The collection starts with a euphoric dance floor stepper, “In Which I Am Reflected,” which mixes the fury and speed of peak-time techno with the grandeur of contemporary classical. The EP carries this reverberant soundscape into the following tracks. “Emotion vs Affect (I Hear Too Much)” serves punishing kicks under Elisabet’s echoing screams, while “Feeding Into Each Other,” a ghostly interlude that clocks in at mid-tempo, offsets crafty percussion with the artist’s buried singing line. “Challenge Me,” 47034’s closer, layers ambient pads with sublime spoken word that summarizes the release’s running theme: “Challenge me with a mind that is open to anything.”

A2 LINN ELISABET / EMOTION VS AFFECT [I HEAR TOO MUCH]

Naples-based up-and-comer Mystics is making impressive explorations in the underground scene. His fourth output will land on 47 and marks the apex of his heads down, rolling approach to techno and a development of his left-field futuristic sound.

The extended six-track EP sets the scene with “The Unexplored Pt. 1,” a strung out opener that spits out irradiant shards of glitch and gated vocals. The rest of the EP builds a cohesive canvas from this sonic palette. In “The Unexplored Pt. 2,” washes of static and breakbeats barrel under a drone-like pad, while “Oxford RM” steamrolls ahead with four-to-the-floor kick drums, barbed wire textures and an orbiting melody. On the B-side, the artist leans into his penchant for IDM with “But If” and “Shrouded In Mystery” with their wormhole, Warp-like ambience.Never leaning too far into the past, these songs form a collection of visionary rhythmic techno, conjuring a vision of a world that is as movingly melancholic as it is haunting and spare.

Following on from his appearance on one of the label’s launch compilations, Rommek drops his first full EP for Natural Selection. The ‘Devil’s Playground EP’ releases in May and takes up the torch from Kamikaze Space Programme, whose ‘Ashes To Ashes, Dust To Dust’ released late last year and saw support from Barker, Luke Slater, Mumdance, Alienata and more.

Throughout the four tracks on the EP, Rommek showcases his illustrious mastery of sound design, pushing his machines to the limit crafting experimental yet functional techno. In ‘Cut The Mustard’, the sizzle of a broken signal establishes the mood, whirling breakbeats navigate layers of distorted instrumentation as pounding kickdrums send sparks flying. The title track of the EP then continues with a hasty rhythm and psychotropic sounds, acid droplets trickling through Rommek’s carefully designed dreamscape.

On the B-side, ‘Shattered’ speeds things up with unwavering drums and a steady drone, percussion striking the beat like lightning with thunderous atmospherics filling in the space between. ‘Rebound’ enters the fray with settled skies, synths bubbling above modular sequences rounding off this pacy, mind-warping entry on one of techno’s most forward thinking labels.

Rommek has seen his music released by the heaviest of renowned labels such as MORD, ARTS & James Ruskin's Blueprint Records. He first released with Natural Selection via their acclaimed 2022 charity VA alongside names like Assembler Code, Jeroen Search and Umwelt, and now emerges as one of the label’s flagship artists following many appearances on their notorious line-ups at London institution Fold.

Premiere: Rommek - Shattered [NS003]

London-based DJ and producer Rommek releases on 47, showcasing his signature brand of seething, fragmented techno in this formidable label debut.

"Arkho" opens the EP with rolling drums before a heavily distorted synth line pierces the atmosphere, evoking tension and unease before launching into a furious lead. On "Silverlock," broken drums skitter across a droning soundscape, while a glitched-out melody adds a dark tint. "Decipher" squirms with a similarly syncopated rhythm and ice cold textures, topped with crisp hi-hats. Closing track "Synthetic Dream" is threatening but never overly dark, stitching weighty drums between tactile, warped-out synth notes. A chilling cut that conveys Rommek's shadowy aesthetic all the way through.

Minus Magnus is pushing boundaries and exploring the depths of industrial, hard and IDM-infused Techno with his mind-bending EP titled "Voices". The sonic flight contains five genre-defying tracks poised to captivate audiences with its unique blend of raw energy, tension and a haunting narrative.

The EP starts with distant rumbles of "Terminal Breach”, where the listeners are alarmed by the forthcoming. "Freedom Access" breaks through with industrial and breaky techno beats, setting the stage for an exhilarating journey. The third track, "Stumbling Finesse", continues with breaky elements and hints of IDM, seamlessly merging the two into a peculiar blend. Entering the darker corridors, "Eerie Whereabouts" is a 909-infused Techno monster with a haunted ambience set to leave you goosebumps from the thrilling build-up. Finally, "Sport of Choice" unleashes the unrelenting force of Minus Magnus's harder side, reflecting the inner turmoil - or escape.

Armed with a penchant for experimentalism, Lofoten-born, Berlin-based artist Minus Magnus has spent the last two years expanding the boundaries of techno music. His debut EP, 'Voices', showcases his ability to push boundaries and blend techno, industrial, and IDM genres. Additional to the release are the remixes by Tracing Xircles [Blue Hour, Candy Mountain], Peder Mannerfelt [VOAM, KAOS], Fochs Koshka [Mhost Likely, Flux Collective] and Anémi [Flux Collective]., who bring their distinct voices to the project, adding an extra layer of experimental depth.

Mhost Likely Black presents the second J-XSTAPOSE compilation. This time it features the five artists - freij, Andrømeda, Bjerregaard, Danilenko, and Christian Tilt. J-XSTAPOSE Vol. 2 is a collection of raw, industrial and hypnotic-infused techno tracks.

Kickstarting the EP is the hard-hitting ‘Gym 2000’ by Fochs Koshka member freij. A hint about his upcoming releases in 2024 on Mhost Likely. Andrømeda leads the EP down a dark and raw path with her track ‘Distorted Reality’, making you wish you were raving hard in a dark basement club in Barcelona. Similarly, a beefy workout is Flux Collective’s Bjerregaard with his ‘Meat Grinder’. The Bergen-based Ukrainian artist Danilenko delivers a twisting melodic hook in his ‘Bending Around’ that swirls and hypnotizes before local techno hero Christian Tilt completes the EP with a lighter and healing tone - making you ready for another round.
