Fred DuVal is an entrepreneur, civic leader, advisor, and author. As the founder and President of DuVal and Associates, established in 2001, he provides expert guidance on government affairs and policy. His firm advises a diverse range of clients in healthcare, infrastructure, finance, and energy industries, helping them navigate the complexities of government relations at both the federal and state levels.

DuVal has been a prominent figure in public service, particularly in higher education. He currently serves his second term as a Regent for the Arizona Board of Regents, a position he has held since 2007. He was the first person in Arizona's history to be appointed to the Board by Democratic and Republican governors. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing initiatives to improve access to higher education and its affordability and accountability. He has played a vital role in developing programs that ease the transfer of credits between community colleges and universities, ensuring a smoother path for students pursuing higher education in Arizona.

In addition to his work on the Board of Regents, DuVal holds several other leadership roles. He is a senior advisor to a leading global law firm, serves as Chairman of a publicly traded mining company, and holds a directorship at a national auto dealership group. His broad experience across public and private sectors has allowed him to apply his expertise to various projects, making significant contributions in multiple industries.

DuVal's career in national politics includes serving as Deputy Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs during the Clinton administration. In this capacity, he worked with state governors and other elected officials to coordinate relationships between federal and state governments. He played an essential role in policy discussions on welfare reform, education funding, and transportation. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Chief of Protocol for the United States, overseeing key diplomatic events and visits by world leaders.

Outside of his professional career, DuVal is an author, having written a collection of opinion pieces and a book focused on Arizona's appeal as a place to live. He has regularly contributed to education, clean energy, and public policy discussions. He has also been actively involved in various civic organizations, serving on the boards of several nonprofit groups dedicated to community development and public service.

Fred DuVal graduated with a B.A. from Occidental College and a J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law. He was born in New Jersey and raised in Tucson, Arizona. An avid outdoorsman, he has hiked the Grand Canyon in each of the last five decades. He is married to a former director at Mayo Clinic, and they have two sons. He continues to make a lasting impact on his community through his leadership and dedication to public service.
