On February 25, 2022, Anetha will release «Rules are meant
to be broken», a brand-new EP on her label Mama Told Ya.

She invited the outstanding canadian dj and producer, now
Berlin-based, Ryan James Ford to work on this 6th release.
It won’t be the first collaboration as « Snake Biter (1999
Mix) » was on Mama Told Ya last’s compilation «L’eau re-
pousse les feux agressifs».

MTY005 includes 5 rule-breaking tracks. 4 are produced by
Ryan James Ford and one is co-produced between Ryan and
Anetha. «Rules are meant to be broken» : Mama hits it
again with a powerful message that reminds us to always
go beyond.

At only eighteen years old, Paris DJ and producer u.r.trax has a C.V that would make most seasoned selectors blush. Blending the innocence of youth with a ferocious production palette, the emerging techno star has already played Concrete, Dehors Brut and La Toilette, and has released on Hector Oaks Kaos label, having become infatuated with the sound at a young age - even visiting Tresor at just fourteen!

From death comes rebirth, and on ‘Dying Generation' u.r.trax flies the flag for future-gazing doof with its twisting, left-field turns and throbbing noise. An instant Berlin classic. The glitch and suspense of ‘What Was On Their Mind’ melts into the ravers core; alarm bells ring, heartbeats race and eyes widen on its six minute journey.

The headsy vibes on ‘You Are Your Own Distraction’ is a welcome switch-up, it’s punchy kicks and bouncy aesthetic inviting the listener to dance as weird as they want, before the techno tradition is dropped in favour of hefty cut of electro flavour, moulding the artists own vocals with her production for a “Miss Kitten 2.0” vibe.

Galaxial atmospherics, horror-synths and anxious energy bow us out on ‘Race Against Time’, completing the package with a furious digi-only rework from MRD.

The sound of the album is influenced by late 90’s and early 00’s techno contrasted with an avant-garde approach to recording and sound design. Throughout the album Umwelt lays down beautiful grooves and his space techno melodies in uncompromising fashion, blended with classic synthwork and run through his famous analog outboard chains. With “Dead Eyes Society” Umwelt has crafted his most powerful techno album to date and solidified himself as an exceptional artist and titanic figure of modern electronic music.

After a first distinctive appearance in 2021 on the dynamic XX LAB compilation, Vel returns on the independent label leading this next release. "Era L" comprises a series of atypically structured tracks in which modern techno with minimalist tendencies becomes a model on which rich emotional soundscapes are carved. Sensual and complex, Vel's futuristic sound is well established throughout the "Era L" journey

The obsessive "Inspire Me Jim" lays the groundwork for the alienating psychedelic vibe. Mixing lunacy and profound melancholy, the producer invites us on a sometimes tortuous journey, celebrating the female voice and its delicacy: “The world of femininity fascinates me.” This key theme resonates powerfully in her complex music: "The tone of my voice, the sharp percussion, and many reverb"

In addition, four club titles properly nourish the heart of the EP. All of them carefully carry unique rhythms and unexpected drum patterns. Vel’s spontaneity surprises the attentive listener, and claims the ultimate end of classical techno variations. There are frantic rhythms, multidirectional percussion, futuristic sounds, a few dreamy pads, and still a lot of femininity and lunacy. "I look keenly for the unexpected, I try to explore sounds that challenge at first listen, creating strange, even disturbing textures. A mind-blowing trip, against a backdrop of galloping techno through our principal arteries."

Ultimately, "Limitless Wilderness" completes the EP with the distinct feeling that this is just the promising beginning.

Era L" undoubtedly represents an excellent balance between body and mind, with both intriguing introspective atmospheres and captivating eerie sounds. An undeniably modern reinterpretation of rave energy and a sound design that eagerly pushes the established boundaries of techno.
