Stereo Vogue: Becoming Mr. Monroe 

As a child, I would line up all of my toys as an audience. I would wrap myself in a comically large blanket and I would play Selena Quintanilla's Last Concert Live. I had memorized the entire show! Seeing her up there in her sparkly purple jumpsuit and hearing her voice; seeing her move! This brought so much joy and peace into my heart. 

Ever since, I've known music is my connection to this world. As I grew up, I found other incredible artists that inspired me and I tried to learn from them. After a while, I started to feel like I would never be as great. I stopped. I abandoned my dream. 

but... something inside my soul kept screaming and screaming at me to let it out. 

The music flowed again and it moved me. I followed this little light down a winding dark path and within this path, I found that little kid that just wanted to sing and dance. I found the teen that just wanted to be heard and to feel special. The young adult who didn't want to let go of his dreams but felt the harsh reality of this cold world sinking its teeth into and destroying my fantasy. I held their hands, and together we met the artist who used to whisper but now had scream at the top of his lungs. 

This is for every version of myself that I have shed to survive. I am forever grateful for your bravery and resilience. This is for every person who feels like they have a destiny but is insecure because they don't think anyone believes in them. 

I believe in you.
