The fourth episode of the microcastle podcast welcomes label artist Luca Bacchetti. Luca's recent remix of Khen's 'Pollen Spreader' was part of our 41st release and was a huge success, climbing all the way to #2 in the Beatport Electronica tracks chart, where it still sits today, at the time of this writing. The production saw play and support from Dixon, Lee Burridge, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo,  Frankey &amp; Sandrino and many more. For the fourth edition of our podcast Luca has prepared an exclusive studio mix which showcases his impeccable taste and exquisite  programming skills . Featuring new music from Andre Lodemann, Denis Horvat, Roman Flugel and more, as well as two yet to be released tracks from Luca himself. There's a wonderful story being told over its two hour journey, and certainly a mix to explore and lose yourself in many times over. Enjoy!

Born on the 24th of August 1991 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dimuth K’s musical journey began at a very young age when he found himself enthralled by many different forms of music. Initially being most captivated by movie scores and its significance in conveying a story, this prompted him to dig deeper and find new types of music which ultimately resulted in the birth of his career as an electronic music DJ.

He soon found himself transfixing crowds with his Groovy, Progressive House sets and was quick to gain popularity on the decks with his energetic and versatile performances across the island at many clubs, festivals and parties and is a regular guest act at one of Sri Lanka’s leading clubs. Dimuth has warmed up for artists such as Roger Martinez, Khen and UNER and shared the stage with heavyweights such as Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Jeremey Olander, Cid Inc, Fehrplay, Third Son, Alex Kenji, Weekend Heroes, Ben Coda, Arno Cost, Sonny Wharton and Tristian Garner. He draws immense inspiration from watching people connect through music and aims to take them on an emotional journey spreading positive energy through his music.

It was in the year 2013 that Dimuth started professionally producing music and has since become synonymous for his approach to creating Trance, Progressive House and Tech grooves that are emotional and uplifting, captivating listeners around the world. He was awarded the first ever accolade for Best/DJ Producer in Sri Lanka at the Yes Home Grown Awards in 2017.

His productions that are centered around cinematic and euphoric melodies with a groove that is flawlessly blended, are signed on to colossal labels such as Particles (USA), Balkan Connection (Serbia) and Movement Recordings (Greece) and was also featured on Max Graham’s “Cycles 8” released on Black Hole Recordings. He has already been supported and charted by industry legends such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, John OO Flemming, Max Graham, Gai Barone, Marcelo Vasami, Mariano Mellino, Stan Kolev to name a few.

His music has been played at Warung Festival (Brazil), CODA (Canada), Loveland Festival (Amsterdam), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Treehouse (Miami) and numerous other international clubs and festivals. Dimuth also successfully launched his own radio show “Roads Less Trodden” in 2017 which he hosts on DNA Radio.

2016 saw Dimuth co-found THE BLUEPRINT., the brain child of his own and fellow Lankan producer SAJAY. Together they have launched a movement to bring likeminded people with a shared love for electronic music together to uplift and highlight young local talent with many plans in the works to host more events, and artist showcases and to finally achieve his dream of setting up a record label.

Dimuth continues to strive in order to keep growing as a versatile artist while simultaneously expending great efforts to develop the Sri Lankan electronic music landscape and to keep spreading good energy through his music.

DAYS like NIGHTS 005 - Live From Basis, All Night Long, Utrecht Part 2

Dear girls & boys and everybody in between,

before the year is over again, I’d like to wish you a healthy and happy new year! May sun shine upon you when you need the light and may it rain on you, when you need the water. 
I am happy to choose the first option for now, leaving foggy Berlin for a little vitamin D refill. But before leaving to South America for our Acid Case tour, I uploaded one of my favourite sets of the past year:  

„KC Grad“, Belgrade, September 23rd 2017

Just a few words about it:
I remember that I listened to music of Nicola (Cruz) on the plane and that I missed to take this amazing picture of Danube river when we flew over it, before landing at Nicola (Tesla) airport, where I had only been once (twice to be correct) before and after I played a short set not before, but after a 
Nicola(s Jaar) concert in 2012.
So this was only my second trip to Belgrade and because neither I want to bore you, nor have I intentions to write a city guide, I will skip the part where we took a very nice walk through the city, and jump right to the last half hour before my gig when I discovered this amazing Serbian synth pop band „Beograd“. No question, I HAD to play one of their songs! Choosing one was not quite easy, but as always when you happen to go with the flow, you don’t need to make decisions, simply because the moment makes them for you...I ended up playing a song called "Opasne Igre“ whatever that means….haha, now that I am writing this, I had to look it up and what can I say? I do see a slight dissent in the context here. I would say, it’s rather a "dangerous game" if you’re not going with the flow, but obviously the song’s topic is somewhat different, so let’s leave it like that for the moment and continue the journey. My personal flow-master led me to Georgia later that night. Stay tuned and you’ll hear - for the first time online - one of my favourite edits of the past 433 days: Ana Malazonia & Fiqria Daiauris’ „Magnolia“ with Andhim’s "Holger Der Polka“. This one is in fact not even an edit, it’s just two songs mixed together, with the slight difference of 28 bars, meaning that one of them starts 28 bars later then the other one. I once heard someone say: "Simple but oh how beautiful“. Yes that's true!
Of course I also had to play a track of my friend Satori, whose father makes the best Sarma (famous Serbian dish) I ever tried. It's prepared with cabbage that has to be pickled for almost half a year, to get the right taste. Yummy…but let's continue with music:
I played Djordje's remix of my track „Jorge“, which - amongst three other gems - will be released very soon on our label Ouïe. 
Although you can hear a couple other new (at least back in September they were new) tracks, the general vibe of the set rather reminds me of this: 
"Some of my favourite tracks and edits from here, there and then, stirred with a little bit of - don’t forget we’re in Belgrade! - Techno, slowly cooked on (DJ) Hell’s car fire, served with deep-fried shaman punk and sprinkled with a streak of humour.“ Drink menu suggests: Gem&Bolt

Developing a passion for moving dance-floors, he uses DJing as a creative outlet; a means to tell a story. 3 QUESTIONS to XENIA BELIAYEVA:

Q: You´ve mixed some really nice tracks here. How did these early tracks have an impact on your later career?

A: Well, first I wanted to do a classical DJ Mix, something danceable from the mid 1990’s to now, but then I switched to the idea of recording an after-hour mix, since the after-hour culture was an important part in the 1990’s and in the beginning of me partying. I still listen to all of these tracks sometimes in compare to old records, which I rarely or never pick out of my shelf. We go through some emotinal waves here. The mix is quite up and down. Coming down to my career, I really have a love going on with the Lady B track. I like the pressure and build up and everything in it, this track remained timeless for me and still fits into my sets, compare to other tracks from that time. I really love dancing to it, play that song and you see me freaking out like a maniac from a forgotten tribe or so. I guess it’s this forward pushing vibe an attitude I’ve picked from "The Groove Is Going" for my career.

Q: You´ve recently released your new album “Riss”. It´s a mix between Synth-Pop, Indie Dance and the typical Beliayeva Techno. How would you describe your musicial development with this LP?

A: Well, some new aspects are added, the songwriting comes more into light. The arragement has changed a bit. All is slightly more advanced, but in the core and that’s the most important part, I could express myself more or way clearer in this record. Probably that’s the trick of growing up. Talking calm, straight and clear, know more and more, what you want, set your goals, know your limits, be more focused, less open for compromises, give a shit, be self confident, don’t go for second best. Well, I’m curious about my development, let’s see where the journey goes. Right now I’m like super inspired, stucked in experiments on various fields, the only thing I can say is: "Der Asphalt bebt!" (laughing)

Q: What´s coming next after the album?

A: First of all there it's still some work on the album, as we drop a few more singles. The next one is Razor, coming up May 28th with your remix (Marc DePulse). Then I have a collaboration, to be released in June with Maksim Dark, called "Less Than Zero" with an André Winter remix. Then another single from the Album, with an unreleased track and a remix by Black Asteroid & The Architect called "Explore The Darkside". This ones are set for now and then we see, but I’m not sleeping. Step by step, uhhh baby!

SM : Hi Rasmus, how are you doing? Spring started with flying colours on your side, playing alongside Âme and Trikk at Culture Box in your city of Copenhagen - can you tell us more about these experiences and your on-going Into the Wild party series?

Rasmus : Hi guys. Nice talking to you. Yes sure. Let’s start with Culture Box. It’s one of the oldest clubs here in Copenhagen, and I’ve been playing there now for 6 years. Two years ago they offered me to start my own night there, and that’s when Into The Wild came alive. We have around 4 parties a year, and always spend a lot of time finding the right artists, and this week we have Trikk to join us. Besides that, I play as one of their residents, and as you mentioned I was lucky enough to get the warm-up slot for Âme, live, a few weeks back. Amazing crowd and Frank played insanely good. 

SM : On the production side, you've just released last month The River EP on AZZUR, with some strong support such as Eagles & Butterflies, Frankey & Sandrino, Âme, Trikk, Rampa... - how did the collaboration for this 3-tracker play out?

Rasmus : I have been working with the Azzur guys for a few years now, and I really consider them as my friends, and I really wanted this EP to be something special. Both ‘Luzia’ and ‘Tribe’ was done, but we all felt that we needed the ‘A side’. One day I was talking to one of my friends who told me that his girlfriend Apoke was a singer. I contacted her, sent her some beats, and she came back with some lines, and I was blown away. I finished the track and send it to her, and she did all writing and recording in her own studio. And yes, what to say, she nailed it. 

SM : What other projects do you have in the pipeline?

Rasmus : A lot of good things are coming up. I have an EP on Hosted in July, which I look very much forward to. It’s a bit more club friendly than some of my more experimental stuff. And then I have my next album coming on Connected scheduled for October. And then last but not least I have a remix EP scheduled of my last album ‘Tales From My Living Room’ for my own label Calypso Chili. 

SM : It usually doesn't take long to identify a Nandu track - fresh, powerful, rich in texture layers, and often with mesmerizing vocals. What influences do you combine in order to produce this music?

Rasmus : I’ve been playing music the most of my life, and I’m particular happy for genres like Reggae, Jazz, Funk, Soul and Hip-Hop. But when it comes to writing music, I mostly start from the bottom and kind of let the music come to me. And then of course when you create music, you kind of have a musical vocabulary that is created from all the musical inputs you have been exposed to over time. And if you become very good at producing, it’s easy to put these inputs together and create music. 

SM: What are your favorite artists and labels at the moment?

Rasmus : So much interesting stuff out there all the time! Some of my favourite labels that are really doing it well at the moment would be Azzur, Mule Musiq, Nothing Is Real and many more. When it comes to artists I think there’s a lot of crazy talented people out there. So many good producers like Melokkolektiv (on fire at the moment), Modular Project, Aaaron and many more.

Also some of the artists I really admire are some of the artists that really made it happen for themselves. People like Denis Horvat, Trikk, DkA, Perel and so on. They managed to break out of the masses and get out there, and not because of good management, PR Etc., but because of their amazing skills as performers and producers.

Caracole was an unexpected breath of freedom and happiness throughout the all week-end, it was out of this world 🤩I have been invited to play from 5am to 7am on Sunday morning with the sun rising on the main stage 🌄
I started pretty intense right away and went more chill towards the end as the sun was rising and spreading into the woods. 
I hope you'll like it as much as I did playing it, can't wait for next year.
