HISTORY: Rip has been on the hiphop scene since 1994, writing/producing/breakin/scratchin//Rippel  is a  local  BC hiphop Legend .  shambhala music fest original hiphop ambassador since the festivals birth. while bouncing from clubs  festivals and venues  .with over 1500 live shows .all the while keeping a steady following with the likes of DJ Adept, jonny B, and DJ Switch, who were known as the Loki crew, as well as the other  local kootenay  originals such as Cypha.nex, DJ.Digs, VS, and State of Mind,and Deeper than Bottomless, Payne, My name is  JUNK and Depths.WT recs/ Rip can also be found killin' it with the likes of,aceyalone,abstract ,rude,zion-i,busdriver,atmosphere/beatnuts,del the funky homosapian/blackalicious/lyrics_ born/buku-one,killa kella, mike relm MTA/Awol one/masta ace/cuninlyngust,wordswerth,2LIVE CREW!!!!JUST!!! to name a  FEW!!, and is now on a solo trip making' and producin' all his own music as well as beats for other emcees and singers with a conscious vibe that the kootanays creates. mega don rippel,, beat rhymes and life!!

Showing very early his endless love for music and growing as a talented child with an absolute pitch ear, he started to play piano at age of 5 and received his early musical education and performance skills in classical piano.  

 A serious melomane, a freak of vinyl shops, he spent most of his teenage period digging, collecting and recording music from any available source. A boy with headphones in his ears, he started to make his first 90 min mixes for friends' parties on tape cassettes, using simple methods of home tape recordings. 

Always being a real fanatic of intelligent, underground genres like  psychedelic and progressive rock, funky & acid jazz, early dark new wave and ethnic fusion, he found out for himself electronic music in early 90-s, listening to Jean Michele Jarre,  The Orb and Kraftwerk and later on to R.Miles, St. Germain and Kruder & Dorfmeister. 
 
 An everlasting fan and a geek follower of contemporary, electronic underground genres, he  constantly digs the innovative, intelligent and eclectic sound for his sets and production projects.
 Studied electronic production and sound synthesis in BPM school in Tel-Aviv. and took private master classes from the best electronic producers in Israel. 

He has been playing in clubs, dance bars and outdoor events all over Israel since 2004 and has become publicly known for his unique musical taste, intelligent and deeply pumping sets, harmonic mixing techniques, combining various genres into one long dancing composition.      

Under his scene name Sapiens, he has produced deep progressive and melodic tech house music since 2006 and has established since then several electronic dance lines: Miniprog Sessions, Urban Deepsters and DeepSpeeD  

Has a Deep side project Sharp Ear, and he is a resident DJ at various famous worldwide radio shows such as Groundworx sesseion on Siren 107.3 FM  (UK), Golden Wings (Argentina), Triplefire music (South Africa/UK) and Proton Radio (CA, USA) 

 A resident of  several outdoor production crews (Amnesia, Phase,  etc.) 
 
Releases his tracks on Pangea Recordings, ICONYC, Stellar Fountain, Baroque, Particles to name a few. 
 
Everything that attracts Sapiens' Sharp ear, be it classic music, singing birds or urban noises on his roof has its own influence on his compositions. 

Lives in Tel-Aviv and works in his own studio.

I am an award winning songwriter who sings and performs his songs, as well as cover songs.....my taste is eclectic: folk/rock, country rock, jazz/pop, and rock mostly.....I have performed at Blues Alley in Washington DC, Baltimore's Rams Head Live, the Baltimore Arena, the Ernest Tubb Theatre in Nashville, and numerous venues in the Washington Dc area.....I don't play out as often as I used to.....I recently decided to go back to the recording studio  ....the new album has 8 originals and 2 covers, ….it is a nice collection of songs....the covers are Bob Dylan's She Belongs to Me and Johnny Mercer's I Remember You.....the tile track is I've Got Feelings for You. Deep, minimal, funky, indie and eclectic groove project of Alan SharpEar, aka Sapiens.  Returning from Berlin back to his hometown Tel Aviv Alan launches his alternative project SharpEar with his debut Album Presence (2018) on SoulStar records, combining versatile elements of minimal, funk groove beats  with deep dub and soulful textures to create a new unique sound and vibe that will inbreathe new energies and emotional expressions into the dancing crowd.  Since then Alan has released another 3 Eps on European boutique labels, such as Asane Records, Soundscapes Digital and Under The Trees (Tanzgemeinschaft), experimenting with organic sounds, tribal beats and minimal groove and there are more to come soon.
