Absence of Facts label head Orion returns to his home imprint, delivering a three-track statement with the 'Broken Horn' EP. This release is a testament to the Finnish artist's nuanced, hypnotic techno, meticulously sculpted for discerning dancefloors.

The title track, "Broken Horn," is a formidable exercise in sonic architecture. It operates as a focused rumbler, where deep, resonant frequencies and intricate sound design converge to create a tense, hypnotic atmosphere. Following this, "Twisted Together" injects a distinct funk into the proceedings. Its propulsive, syncopated rhythm and dynamic groove offer a compelling, physical energy without sacrificing depth. The package is concluded with "Be Fair," a track perfectly engineered to be a quintessential set-closer. Its evolving atmospherics and patiently building intensity provide a powerful, reflective end-point, leaving a lasting, introspective impression.

Hurukan - One Life

"A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day" EP is comprised of 7 tracks recorded in Kazan and Moscow during various sessions. Some of them go back as early as 2014 and everything is composed on two 8-track samplers. 

Alina Izolenta and Kamil Ea were born in the USSR, so the origin of the acronym PTU is embedded in everyday life of a country which no longer exists. The duo spent their childhood in Siberia and on Volga, and their salad days in music schools and early clubs of their respective home cities. 

Back then accessing the internet was only possible via pre-paid cards that came in envelopes. Music — via pirate CDs and endlessly slow mp3 downloads. Friendships would stem from copying music from hard drive to hard drive. The name PTU came to life in the middle of 00s, in a rented apartment, literally the last building in some steet on the outskirts, over impromptu synth sessions with friends.

“Inhabited Shadows” is the new album by pioneering, Berlin-based techno artist Headless Horseman. This is his most daring and emotional release to date: the culmination of live performance, studio experimentation, and global exploration.

A total sonic experience, “Inhabited Shadows” takes listeners on a deeply personal journey through Headless Horseman’s creative brain. Dark industrial synths and broken beats form the spinal cord. A spirit of lightness and compassion guides the way forward.

From its opening, the album sets hard edges and metallic surfaces against dense and delicate textures. A-tonal figures and percussive attacks merge with melodic flights and soulful rhythms. Classical counterpoint and cinematic soundscapes conspire together. The result is discordant joy.

Headless Horseman’s vitality comes from his determination to remain open and vulnerable as an artist. “Inhabited Shadows”, recorded over eight months in 2019, reflects a period of intensive growth. Each of its nine tracks ventures into uncharted territory, embracing many moods, changing climates, old ghosts, and new risks.

“Over years of trials and tribulations, music has been the antidote”, says Headless Horseman. “I’ve learned to live in shadows and darkness. Now I’m chipping off pieces of my shell and portraying directly how I feel without compromise. I still inhabit shadows, but I can move back and forth between darkness and light.”
