BEST OF RELISH IV features some previously unreleased versions and some
highlights from the years 2009, 2010 and 2011. Artists and Remixers are: David
Gilmour Girls, Headman, Brassica, Hannulelauri, Daniel Avery, Jr Seaton and
Gatto Fritto.
“While listening to the tracks I’m always amazed how most of them still sound fresh and could actually just come out now.“

1. David Gilmour Girls where one of the first bands Robi signed to Relish. At
that time their Music was very different to what dictated the mainstream more
psychedelic-dance -rock than the noisy neo Rave sound. Unfortunately the
band split up later.
2. Headman – Voices remixed by Hannulalauri, the dub was never released
before. Voices was taken from the 1923 Album. The finish duo also
contributed with 2 Eps on Relish.
3. Brassica - Hey Man. A collaborator on various release formats on Relish
and w/ Headman on Work that came out in 2015.
4. Hannulelauri - Zombie Tropicana was released on Super Monkey in 2010.
5. Daniel Avery – Oyster, this was the first track he released on Relish Comp 3
and the first release under his real name. In 2012 his AIRSTRIKE EP came
out on Relish.
6. Jr Seaton - Way Savvy (Gatto Fritto Remix). Now known as Call Super was
remixed into a tense, epic slow – jam by Gatto Fritto.
7. Headman - Private Show (Alternative Version) was released as a 12” Vinyl
in 2010 and it features vocals by Steve Mason the man behind such legendary
Bands as Beta Band, Black Affair, King Biscuit Time and his solo work.
8. Jr Seaton - Azklementyne (Brassica Mix) Is another Jam this time remixed
by Brassica.
9. Retriever - Murder (Headman Dub) They are a band out of Newcastle and
only released one single on Relish. This is the previously unreleased
Headman Dub.
10. As last is Robi’s alter Ego Manhead, the last new Manhead track since 2011
when it was released on Relish Comp 3. This is an unreleased extended
Version.

For its second release of 2018, Days Of Being Wild welcomes London duo Super Drama.
What strikes us immediately with “Affected Elegance” is Super Drama’s taste for an analog and rough production - the tracks have a “straight to tape” live feel far from the carefully computer constructed productions you tend to hear these days. There is a rough and ready attitude to their new wave and Italo tinted sound, with disco bass-lines and DX7 pads and bells melodies.
The title track could easily be an 1986 New Order b-side with its balearic pads, disco bass line and “Blue Monday” kick, while “Hausu” with its female vocals and retro drum machines sounds like a forgotten Italo instrumental mix. Black Rose follows in the same vein of twisted disco noir with its pitched down voice over a pulsing bass line. Closing the EP, we find old pal Kiwi remixing “Affected Elegance”. Kiwi keeps in with the old school electronic disco vibe but brings his own unique style of modernity taking the track to stratospheric disco heights, stripping down to its core to build it back to an emotional climax.

Tronik Youth - Psycho Bubbles (K - Effect Remix)

John Parsley has been making an impact lately with his unique soundscapes and catchy left field rhythms. After the success of recent releases on Logical and Sulk Magic the Swiss producer brings two new originals to Roam Recordings to form the Schlanke Socke EP. Both tracks build with a rhythmic fluid motion while maintaining an eerily intriguing vibe. The original Schlanke Socke is an uptempo rendition of this style while Ghost in the Maschine brings the tempo down to add more space.

The EP also sees the return of Tronik Youth to Roam Recordings with an excellent remix of the title track. The Nein Records label boss takes the energy up even further on Schlanke Socke with a heavy percussion workout.

Mexican producer and label boss for Regith Records Otheo also joins the EP and adds a stunning dark disco remix of Ghost in the Maschine.

All four tracks work together to fit different times, tempos, and occasions while keeping with the Roam mantra - a little left of center and always for the dance floor.

Optimo Music launches a new digital label; Optimo Music Digital Danceforce, or just plain Digital Danceforce for simplicity. As the turnaround on getting vinyl made was getting ever longer, I wanted an outlet that could be a lot leaner and meaner and get releases out in a far faster amount of time. Some of these may end up being vinyl releases if there is a demand but they will be launched to the world as digital only.

First up is four tracks of sleazy, psyched-out electronics from Belgium’s Strapontin. Self-described as Cold disco, slow techno, queer thoughts, it was instantly falling in love with these that led to the decision to get these out to the world ASAP. Tried and tested. Dancefloor action guaranteed.

Road To Yuzu

Road To Yuzu originates from a long drive to the east of Holland. I was on my way to a place called Yuzu after a long day in the studio, where I was stuck in an old flow and sound. I found myself re-evaluating this flow and it felt like I was ready for something new. This drive somewhat changed the sound I wanted to focus on, giving me new energy and inspiration. Road to Yuzu, a melancholic driven breakbeat track, represents this turning point. 


Phasing In

The acid elements characterize the over-rushed society we live in, where we forget to stand still at times. The kalimba percussion and synthesizers represents the opposite; feeling grounded and conscious. With Phasing in, I tried to combine these feelings to express the contradiction of the two.


Anxious World

The last track of the EP starts with dreamy synths slowly evolving into a heavy leading bass with breakbeat elements. The short didgeridoo cuts and the use of the old Yamaha SY22 synthesizer rounded up the track.


Alteration EP 

With the three tracks taken together I tried to give an output on all different thoughts going on in the studio while making music. I’m always in search to keep the balance between dancefloor movement and calmness. It’s a process where everything is subject to change and alteration.

‘Meant To Be’ is a track I wrote about all the people I’ve seen on the edge of either starting a relationship, or ending one. As a stubborn over-thinker myself, I’ve been on both sides of this and, in either situation, have always overly complicated things for myself. There’s a lot of unnecessary noise when you’re constantly wondering whether a person is the right one for you. This song is a reminder to just let these things happen, enjoy the moments you share with others, and be free.  As always, I truly hope you enjoy.

1993 is the intro track off my EP. The idea behind the song came from my initial love of dance music. I was in the 1st grade when I heard Daft Punk’s ‘One More Time’ playing on MTV for the first time and instantly fell in love. To this day it’s still a song I can play over and over, and 1993 is an homage to dance music and what I felt when I first heard it. oh and ya 1993 was the year i was born.

The title track 'Turbo' is unorthodox but magnetic and danceable. Whilst remixer @Ricardo-Ruben gives it more a psychotropic and lysergic dose but without losing its essence by the way of its percussive and melodic intensity .

Robi Insinna is a Producer, DJ, Visual Artist and INDUSTRIA and RELISH owner.

Back in 2001 he founded the seminal Relish label in direct response to a then-dominant sound in club music. Its catalogue is as vast as it is varied and foreshadowing the music he'd go on to make himself under Headman/Manhead. Some highlights are IT ROUGH, Birth School Work Death, in the early years for the newer period tracks such as Be Loved, Dechainee. He also was busy remixing the likes of Roxy Music, The Gossip, Franz Ferdinand, The Units, Unknown Cases, Gina X and many more.
Relish has also been busy releasing international talents and remixes such as Daniel Avery, Red Axes, Borusiade, Manfredas.


Fast forward to 2018 he's on the move again launching new Project label, Industria with - not quite an album, not quite an EP - Hard Work. The debut was released under Robi's own name.
Industria will be focused more on vinyl releases, but not solely vinyl. The project will encompass all areas of Robi's work and ties together elements of his art and visual design projects and products.
