First of all happy new year!! That this year brings more light then in 2021. Today I present you the first Ambient Sessions mixtape of 2022!. Cherub makes his debut on the serie with his ethereal mixtape for this months session

'Cherub has a monthly show on london-based Voices Radio. Currently a resident & co-honcho of London-based party Tussle and dj's regularly in venues across London providing ethereal sounds for mind, body & spirit'

Description of mix: 

'This mix takes its focus away from Cherub's usual 4-to-the-floor environment and concerns itself with themes of child-like wonderment, play and vulnerability. Weaving in samples from crowded beaches, children screaming in delight in playgrounds and running water, a playful yet poignantly meaningful soundscape is created using balaeric-infused, trance-influenced and 90's ambient.'

Fields We Found is the moniker of an artist and the newly-launched quiet details label founder, bathing our ears with ambient bliss. In the last few years, we were gifted with deep-evolving soundscapes appearing on Ambientologist, Seil Records, and Handstiched Recordings, with the most recent album, Paths, “… exploring the routes we all choose and where they take us” on Facture. Late in 2022, Alex also put out music on the beloved Home Normal, run with tremendous devotion by the one and only Ian Hawgood. Today’s mix on Headphone Commute Podcast is essentially a love letter to our mutually adored ambient imprint, showcasing a lot of the beautiful music appearing on the label. Neonfall

It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. For those of us failing to fit the patriarchal neoliberalist mould we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. We discover that the stability we were instructed to obtain whether it be financial, political or ecological, is fleeting, if at all. The resulting anxiety is an instrument of neoliberalism that prevents many of us from being able to raise consciousness of the structural injustices that alienate us. 

In a world where security is no longer feasible, the only constant we can rely on is change. Barad teaches us that the world is a dynamic process of intra-activity and materialisation, an ongoing ebb and flow of agency. The Buddhist Law of Impermanence proves that nothing in this world is eternal. 
Regardless of ones point of reference we can understand that every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux and perhaps this transience is the only thing we can depend on. 

Each month we invite an artist to ruminate on these ideas and create an hour of relief from these anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality, where the listener can speculate on alternate modes of existence that reject hetero- patriarchal systems of oppression. 

This month we have invited SVLBRD @w_a_r_m_t_h to reflect on this.
