Coast to coast, top to bottom, sea up to the scarp. Any deliberate movement from one place, real or imagined, to another can always be broken down into minuscule moments that blesh together to form a coherent mass. Tiny thoughts, fractals of emotion and gentle changes in direction all contribute to an overarching picture. Tape 71 appears in the afterglow of a life affirming weekend, drawing introversion out from moments of extreme extroversion and reformatting them into dance music.

This week, right before our very ears, Sleepy J sketches out an extra deep hour-long composite of your mind’s most inner dancefloor. There are no hurried changes in this mix, no uncomfortable cardiac arrest bass drops and no misplaced or unaligned track selections. Simmering pseudo-alien basslines, dubbed out percussion and gentle injections of uptempo house permutations are dished out with care and in perfect sequence, a dancer’s mindful stomp curated with excellence.  

One part mong-out-in-a-beanbag and one part close-your-eyes-and-plant-yourself-front-left, “Sea To Scarp” is 100% quality.

EOA will start with a new acid project named the “On Acid” series.
Since the 90s, the characteristic 303 acid sound is one of the main elements in most electronic DJ sets. We dedicate a series of online mixes from talented artists, which will contain those smiley-facing sounds. Electro, techno, rave, breakbeats, house, acid acid acid!
Every first week of each month, a 1-hour acid mix will be uploaded on our Soundcloud!

First to take off the "On Acid" series is @conductdisorder. A new kid on the block from Rotterdam, and yeah, truly an acid kid. With his own shows at Operator Radio, he is going wild in digging the true thriving Electro and massive Breakbeat tunes. A Modern-day & Newskool Eclectic energy, all you need for a perfect first acid mix for our series.

Morgan Elder was joined by special guest Modēm this month for two hours of techno. Morgan explored the more percussive side of the genre, whilst Modēm focused on the faster, groove based side. A perfect ride into the weekend.

Installment three in the Shared Frequency series comes from none other than DJ and visual artist/designer Hewan Aman, hailing from Paris Hewan caught our attention with her masterful selection of percussive tribal grooves and deep trancey numbers, a sound which very much resonates with our vision as a label as we find ourselves speaking the same sonic language and connecting through a shared love of this music.

Some words from Hewan regarding this mix, "I curated this mix with a variety of tracks and sonorities with the intention of re-interpreting the energy I felt in CA001. I also built it with the intention of giving out my representation of how common ancestry can be felt through music with blends of goa sounds, dub, drums, progressive and percussive sounds. Combining recent and older releases."

After a small hiatus, Polychrome Radio returns to offer the stage to not only a great DJ but also to one of the silent architects of Amsterdam's cultural scene. Pieter de Beaufort impressive work ethic, open mindedness and sharp eye for talent has been instrumental in the recent very active music programming of Oost's multidisciplinary and unique venue, Studio/K. 

As the space's cultural programmer, Pieter has been involved with several local and international projects. Some highlights from the past year include multidisciplinary showcases with Immaterial.Archives and Violazioni Sonore. He also co-organized Sapodilla; an event that explored the origins of house and techno music and its fundamental relation to black and black queer identity and activism through a documentary screening, a panel talk and a subsequent club night at Garage Noord. On top of this, he is currently working on an international collaborative project focused on the intersection between technology, visual art, and music, creating multidisciplinary events throughout Europe that include audiovisual performances, club nights, workshops, and exhibitions.

About the podcast, he expressed "the wish to explore multiple sounds within the realms of ambient, deep techno, and leftfield d&b. I stayed close to my sound by sticking to the eerie atmospheres and multi-deck layers of hypnotic rhythms that form an integral part of my sets. Throughout the set, you’ll find a steady amount of groove at its foundation."

This recording is a very deep voyage into the realms of deeper techno. We felt that groove as much as we felt the unique energy that Pieter has. The energy of the passion for carefully curated music and art. Enjoy !
