The Headtron crew is back with their first release as a record label since the very early days, the aptly titled Succulent Selections. It marks the beginning of a new emphasis for the brand focused on making Headtron the record label people have ironically always thought it was (but wasn’t really) and a new course to grow the affiliation and welcome new artists while keeping the fireplace warm for the artists you know and love.
Succulent Selections offers the best and newest elements of the “west coast bass music scene.” Hate to use that term but if you’re going to get put in a box you might as well own it and push its walls to new places. Gone are the days of midtempo glitch-hop from 2008 and in its place is a blend of future, glitch, trap, psychedelia, and even a little house thrown in the mix (compliments of Headtron legend jOBOT and arctic newcomer ULU). You’re always going to hear the melodic difference on a Headtron offering but these tracks are split between club ready and internal reflection, exactly what music should be, something to make you shake your ass and something to make you think.

At heart there’s nothing better than bringing the homies together for a proper party and stacking them back to back to back and remembering that music above all other things brings people together in unity and celebration. This collection of tracks was born from those moments and whether it’s a crowd of tens or thousands the vibe stays the same.
Original Dons - Sugarpill, Gladkill, ChrisB., GoldRush, jOBOT, Andreilien, and Russ Liquid are joined by newcomers Morillo and ULU as well as old friend Thriftworks to put together this collection for your listening pleasure. Compliments to fellow disciple Vladimir Galat for the outstanding artwork. We hope it’s just the beginning. Enjoy.

Naked on Acid is my vision of painting with sound. It's sounds, thoughts and textures drawn across the auditory spectrum with brushlike strokes, flowing into eachother and creating a synesthetic field to journey into. My recommendation: Sit down in-between your speakers, the stereo field, or in headphones, close your eyes and really listen.
