mellow border collies and the finite sadness

"smear" is a group that has it's roots beginning in Eugene, OR, and continuing now from Portland, OR and Denver, CO.

The idea behind this band has been to create an experience for the listener that revels in the sonic psychedelia of the 60's greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, 13th Floor Elevators, The Doors; while more-so perhaps drawing from later influences such as Sonic Youth, Boris, The Strokes, Gorillaz, The White Stripes; and most recently bands like Warpaint, QOTSA, The Growlers, and Thee Oh Sees.  Essentially, an experience that is characterized by tubed distortion/heavy gibson and fender noises, deep psychedelic rifts of space amidst pounding drums and bleeding riffs. Notes of catchy pop influences amidst orchestral swells on top of all that and we have ourselves a fairly unique flavor of analog sounds; crafted to be played loud and with a sort of hypnotize heavy mindset.
