A London-trained jazz musician, Louis began their musical journey immersed in the theory, improvisation, and discipline of jazz studies at college. After graduating, however, life took a different turn, leading to an almost decade-long hiatus from writing and performing. That extended break ultimately became a creative reset—one that opened the door to a new artistic direction.

Returning to music nearly ten years later, Louis has carved out a sound that steps far beyond their formal roots. Drawing inspiration from the shimmering atmospheres of Cocteau Twins, the soulful minimalism of Rhye, and the gritty lyricism of Arctic Monkeys, their work exists at the crossroads of indie pop, funk, and rock. The result is music that feels both intimate and expansive: grooves laced with texture, vocals that balance rawness and restraint, and songs that blur the boundaries between genres.

This project is not about revisiting the past but redefining it—melding years of silence, study, and lived experience into a body of work that is as forward-looking as it is deeply personal. With a foundation in jazz but an ear turned toward modern soundscapes, Louis is shaping a voice that speaks to both musical craft and emotional resonance.

After a few key changes in members and musical direction Set In The Skies as you know it were born.

In such a short period of time we have had amazing opportunities to play with bands such as Violet, Skies In Motion, Our People Versus Yours and Oceans Ate Alaska.

2013 is set to be an important year for the band, with our debut ep Northern Lights being released, along with as many tour dates as possible (Book us!) plus merch being printed for the first time.
