Excerpt from the Sleeve notes by Robin Turner-
“It was probably a stupid idea, the kind that, if you sat down and thought about it, you’d have laughed about, scrapped and moved on to the next one.
It went like this – get a back room in a dirty old boozer on a Sunday night. Get a pair of DJs who were more renowned for their party rockin’ than their fluid mixing. Get guests , anyone and everyone from pop stars to shit hot DJs and get them to play their favourite records. The only rule – our guys go on last. Build up your own anthems, find new heroes, find your own stimulants. You think you’ll get maybe 70 people, but after 13 weeks when you call it a day, you’re turning away 700. Somebody said ‘blow the whole joint up’. We did.
The Social first rocked the tiny basement of The Albany on Sunday August 6th 1994. In the months since then, it’s shifted venue a few times. Months or years down the line, all you have left as a souvenir of a life affirming night out is a crumpled flyer. With these albums, we’re trying to bring a little slice on the Social into your home."

H.A.M. (Kanye West Feat. Jay-Z)(Travis Barker Remix)

The period leading up to the release of Parastrophics was one of uncharacteristic silence for Mouse On Mars. Their 10th studio album was 5 years in the making - and the record, for all its deftness and dizzying unpredictability, was notable for the resulting sense of gravitas. WOW is the exact opposite, a spontaneous reaction to all those hours of studio labour, created from scratch in a matter of weeks, and released just 9 months after its predecessor.

You can almost feel the tension being released. WOW is an exuberant, immediate and club-orientated counterpoint to Parastrophics, with Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma aiming their considerable technical finesse firmly in the direction of the dancefloor. There are no prizes for guessing the 303 delights that a track called “ACD” might have to offer; others, like “DOG”, “HYM” and the closing “SUN” deliver serious bass punch and genuine hands-in-the-air euphoria alongside Mouse On Mars’s trademark twists and turns.

The vocal presence tying the whole mini-album together is Dao Anh Khanh, whom the band met during their tour of Asia 2010. Dao is a performer and sculptor from Vietnam, who invented a fantasy language which the band recorded together with him in an arcane Hanoi studio. Further contributions come from the Argentinian girl punk band Las Kellies and Eric D. Clarke. Thrown together, these disparate elements come together to make a whole which is epic, abstract, intense and ridiculous at the same time. WOW is Mouse on Mars' bass theatre.

The record also makes much use of the wretchup, an iphone app which was invented by Mouse on Mars during preparations for their orchestral work Paeanumnion. The band went on to use wretchup effects on Parastrophics and on stage during their 2012 album tour – now they plan to make it available, via itunes, around the time of the release of WOW.

Rakim - New York To Cali (Unreleased Version Circa 1995-Produced By Dominic Owen)

TOY have announced details of the release of a new single. Make it Mine will be released through Heavenly Recordings on Monday 10th December 2012.

The single is taken from their forthcoming self-titled debut album which was released on 10th September.

Released as a 12” and download it also will also feature a Richard Fearless remix of Drifting Deeper alongside 2 unreleased tracks, Live Electronics and the bands cover of the Velvet Underground's 'What Goes On'. 

Make It Mine was recorded during the spring of 2012 with Dan Carey in his South London studio as part of the album sessions.

Toy have just completed an extensive U.K tour which included a sold-out London Heaven show. They previously completed a 4-week residency at the Shacklewell Arms in London in January, played a sold-out show at London’s XOYO in April and appeared at most of the U.K.’s leading festivals over the summer including Reading / Leeds, Latitude, Bestival, End Of The Road, Festival No.6 and Green Man.

Red Lights

There aren’t many bands that sound like The Redwood Plan. They take old school punk from the late 70s/early 80s and throw in  synthesizers for a quirky, standoffish mix that will grow on you. “Panic On” is an anthemic track that shows this band is ready for a larger audience. It kicks off with a big synth lead that blazes into a double-time dance-punk aural assault. The song almost feels like it’s speeding up as it anticipates the explosion of the final chorus.
