Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, ONE shotta fuses UK garage/bass music with jazz, disco, and house elements. “Garage music is my thing, It took r and b and put the love back in it. it’s the best kind of music in my mind because it’s bursting with attitude, quirky moments, and punchy sounds. Gorgeous, lush and Carefree is how I’d put it. it's a genre thats never taking itself too seriously, and always focused on the swinging, bouncy grooves” says the artist. 

A 90s baby who got to experience the peaks of his youth through the post y2k era. Electronic dance music was always a light in the dark. While DJ culture wasn’t exactly a thing then like it is now, the aspiration to produce music always was the mission. However at the start of the journey it wasn’t this way. “I was doing live bands. I liked punk and hardcore music. Metal. I fronted and did vocals for all the bands I was in during that time. Played tons of live venues and even toured the east coast. That whole scene is small as hell and after a while it became exhausting and I just quit”.

Having walked away from that scene, it lead to a long hiatus from music in general. “Fast forward to early 2024 I get to talking with a close friend and big bro when it comes to underground music. DJ Manteca put me on to so much shit. Exposed me to garage, UKG, jungle and all of that. We spend mad years hitting shows and clubs. I mean we were doing this since the beginning. We reconnected and just couldn’t stop trading tunes. it was always like “hey did you hear this one?” Or “listen to this banger it’s fucking sick”. It was that energy that inspired me and just flipped the switch for me.”

ONE shotta is a play on words and several references rolled into one. Starting at the origin of the Jamaican slang word “shotta” which means roughly “armed gangster” and coupled with the word one in front of that it becomes a cheeky video game reference referring to an event where one character defeats another with a single blow. Simultaneously referencing the popular manga One punch man about a world with a hero that can defeat any villain with just one punch. 

“I loved the character so much. He’s just so chill
about everything and that’s what makes it so awesome. I just wanna make tunes that are funky and have nasty bass lines. I consider myself a multi genre artist but I don’t think I can freak the other styles like this. I’m here to stay and I might put out some jungle and house tracks soon, but UKG and the speed garage, that’s my heart.”

With UKG seeing a resurgence in the under ground music scene domestically and abroad now, ONE shotta is ready to represent for NY and bring his own unique style to the genre. Album will be dropping fall 2025.

A marca Heavy Baile surge no Rio de Janeiro em 2010, como rótulo dos remixes e depois faixas autorais de Leo Justi, e a partir de 2013 em parceria com o MC Tchelinho, da favela da Cruzada, se manifestou como festa, show itinerante, teve um álbum e singles lançados com funkeiras consagradas e apresentou ao mundo uma abordagem estética no funk inédita e única.

A colaboração com diretores de grife e artistas periféricos gerou vídeos compartilhados entusiasticamente por personalidades como Thais Araujo, Cat Power e Rosario Dawson, e os singles de sucesso incluem tanto parcerias com artistas "relíquia" do funk como Tati Quebra-Barraco e Valesca Popozuda, quanto as jovens LARINHX e Slipmami.

Os esforços pela cultura periférica carioca abarcam hoje no selo e escritório Heavy Baile Sounds as artistas Slipmami, Larinhx, Ebony, Leo Justi e MC Tchelinho.
