The ever-absorbing Lifestyle Recordings label continues to present strong, challenging music, music which reaches parts of your soul you probably didn’t know exist. Their new release, the imprint’s 35th, sees Conduct contribute Futile, and Lockjaw come with Big System.
The label has been rightly praised for its atmospheric
music, which has an uncanny ability to remain relevant
for the dancefloor. Showcasing the many different types of drum & bass and dubstep to the nation and the world, it is home to names like Tomek K, Dominic Ridgway, Macca, Hosta and more. Conduct are the creative geniuses behind Futile. The producers, based in South West London, very much like to let their music do the talking. The track is the exact type of future-led d&b that fits Lifestyle so perfectly, with rushy breaks leading into some epic- sounding synths and warped undertow. The main part of the track comes exploding out at you, complete with cataclysmic effects and some seriously fat bass. Ready to tear down any club, Futile is a seriously heavy track for
the end of the year.

Lockjaw emanates from Canberra, but his music transcends nationality and location. Deep, dark and resolutely original, Lockjaw is setting his sights high. The catchy, insistent opening to Big System is only the beginning, with tight kicks highlighting the engineering prowess which Lockjaw also brings to the table.
Things take a dark turning part way through, as the producer guides you through some dank underground tunnels which reek of beats, bass and bashy rhythms. Hard, punishing and uncompromising, this one is set to smash. Futile/Big System show what Lifestyle are all about, and what they are capable of. With an abundance of stuff out there, Release is certainly on somewhat of an unstoppable rampage. Almost a year on from Tu-Rok/Morality the Release tornado comes back to Proximity once again, bringing with it a storm of bangers.

The first encounter is Grubber, a tune that doesn’t hold back any energy. It is truly massive track that will have no trouble setting a party off. The opening sets us in an eerie mist of noise, followed tantalisingly by the shadow of a crisp drum break. The track lulls before a rolling drum raises the hype to breaking point, which of course the drop satisfies on every level.

On Hold completes the outing, a track with its core infused with a dark jungle sound. Choppy drums help bring it in before a rumbling of low end offers a caution as to the direction of the song. On Hold is again one that will tear a dance-floor apart, making this release something of a double header.

Dualistic – Brave ft. Ayve Dualistic & Zazu - Beauty

Andreas Ort, otherwise known as Dualistic, came to our attention through some solid uploads recently supported by Liquicity. Having fired over these two epic tracks a few a months ago, we had no choice but to share them with you! Originally from Germany, Andreas is now based in the Netherlands and has knocked up two massive tunes; 'Brave' featuring Ayve and teamed up with Zazu for 'Beauty'.
'Brave' kicks off with Andreas' signature uplifting melodic textures and a glitchy build-up to give way to a deep rumbling bass and punchy drum lick. Ayve's haunting emotive tones sit perfectly atop this summer roller.
Working with Leiden-based neighbour Zazu for the A/B side, the pair deliver a solid minimal roller in Beauty. Opening with a reserved half-time intro, the track builds slowly into a cliff-hanging drop which doesn't disappoint. A swelling bassline blends with a solid amen break, soaring pads dressing the high end and a spacey yet simple descending melody to top it all off. Soulvent deliver a solid package in their 15th release, sure to shutdown more than the odd dancefloor this summer.

Terabyte Records would like to welcome Sonis to their roster. Otherwise known as Alex Rehberg, this Oregon-based debutant’s release with the label showcases Terabyte’s love for fresh new sounds perfectly, and literally. 

The B-side, ‘Fresh’, takes you in a totally different direction. This track is all about atmosphere. The subtle use of synth and pads to gently decorate the main focus of the prominent, metallic drum rhythms mixes in perfectly with the background effects to create a strange an alluring piece of music that stays with you after it has finished.

Expect a bright future for Sonis.
