Mix #041 comes from a man who needs no introduction, our very own J Wax. 

The Hilltown Disco Collective member has been the most featured artist on our label, featuring on HIL001, HIL002, HIL003 and our angel series.  We have a few really exciting projects in the works with Jace that will be coming out in 2021.

J Wax has earned the reputation as one of the most promising, young producers in the country, with releases on FTP, Dionysian Mysteries and Unit Two Records, with his first solo vinyl EP expected out in the coming months.

Based in Edinburgh, Jace co-runs club-night, Palidrone.  The night has hosted the likes of Solid Blake, DJ Stingray, and joined forces with ourselves to welcome DMX Krew and Sync24 to the capital.

Jace is involved in a number of different projects, the most recent being the release of his 'Blink' EP on Inverness imprint Kouncil Kuts. 5 high octane electro cuts - no holds barred. 

Co-running Edinburgh based club night and collective Palidrone, Jace has played host to some of the scenes biggest and best such as DJ Stingray, Sync 24, DMX Krew, 96 Back, Solid Blake - the list goes on.

This hour sees J Wax take a different approach than usual to his selections. Allow the slow and brooding dancefloor melancholia to take hold.

Typeless Mix 28: PERONi

f we could describe LUZ1E's music with one word, it would certainly be "eclectic". Having drawn influence from her brother's collection of Chicago and New York House, the Frankfurt-born producer has learnt to manifest her learnings into a fresh take on the seminal sound. Following her success on labels such as Lobster Theremin, Shall Not Fade, Goddess Music, we are very excited to present her four track EP for VOITAX - Radical Optimism. The opener "Transition" lays down LUZ1E's law, featuring headstrong drum work, matched with equally menacing bass arpeggios. If the theme of apocalypticism wasn't obvious enough from the opening track's looming pads, it will become apparent with "Electronic Warfare". Served up on electro's trustworthy chassis, we watch the distorted arpeggios unfold as the tension of the pads guide us to an dystopian finale. On the flip, the title track "Radical Optimism" uses shrill pad pressure to break the track's dreamy opening sequence - as the modulating bass provides plenty of frequencies for the dance floor. The closing track, "Emotional Intelligence" provides a candid looking glass into the producer's musical influences. LUZ1E's knack for emotive pads furnish the track's uplifting structure with class, as breaks and bass deliver us to a tender climax.
