This is my TRIBUTE mix to one of the most well known Oldskool Techno sets from back in the day. 
Originally recorded on 11th Sept 1992 at one of the legendary Universe events, this was one of those mix tapes that everybody seemed to have a dodgy copy of, with equally dodgy sound quality! 
I've taken the majority of my personal favourite tracks and put together my own mix.

These tunes are the reason I needed to own a pair of decks when I was 15. This was a time when we got our music from 20th generation copies of rave tapes sold in trendy clothes shops. This mix contains 22 beauties from 1992 - piano-driven euphoria from the emerging hardcore scene and tunes that are now considered house classics - 1992 was the year the rave scene burst into the commercial sphere, with the Prodigy's 'Charly' spearheading a trend of sampling children's TV snippets over breakbeats. In hindsight, I think this was a subconscious, subversive protest against the curbs on freedoms heralded by the Criminal Justice Act, yet ironically it created the perfect cocktail for the new-format Top of the Pops, hosted by the hitherto unknown, but immediately peerless Tony 'Laters' Dortie. Anyway, plenty here to keep you interested if you have even the slightest idea what I'm bleating on about!
