Winter 2025-26 Discoveries.

Many people simply want to hear and enjoy some great new music without having to waste time searching for hours. These Musical Discoveries collections aim to fulfil those needs. At least, we hope so! :)

This playlist is a compilation of the favourite musical discoveries of the Wud Records team from everything they heard at SoundCloud during November and December 2025, and January 2026.

Tracks have been arranged according to the number of plays at the moment of publishing, starting with the fewest. Tracks that are early in playlists tend to receive more plays than later tracks, and we feel that the ones with fewer plays need the best chance of exposure.

Why not promote your track on social media and watch it overtake the play counts on later tracks? Now there's a challenge!

These compilations used to be monthly, but with the algorithms becoming ever more squeezed, fewer people are finding and listening to them now. Beats Alive... Spanish Obsession Pt 2

It seems to have been a long road (pardon the pun) since the first volume of The Road was released in February 2021. Creating music has had to take its place in a busy life that has included a wedding, a house move to Scotland, and a change of job. Now settled north of the border, Duncan is now ready with The Road Part 2, the rockier half of this two volume set.
 
The main sound of The Road Part II is based around acoustic guitar and harmonies as with his previous releases but this time, the songs are built using different electric guitars, some folk instruments and even an Irn Bru bottle!

Duncan’s voice is instantly recognisable. His songs are observational, taking in a wide variety of topics including relationships, travel, historical events, social, political, and environmental issues, with the occasional autobiographical reference thrown in for good measure. The music is upbeat, and even where the lyrics tackle serious subjects, The Road Part 2 will leave you with feelings of optimism.

Use to listen to this album quite a a lot, and still do. I like learning how to play songs and arranging them acoustically sometimes. I believe the raw, bare bones is all a really good song needs. I love the passion in these lyrics and melodies.

This song is a bit campy. The core of this thing is pure Isley Brothers' formula from the 70s -- they had these no nonsense, hard slamming funk songs that just went on forever (and you want them to). And there's also a healthy dose of 80s/90s slinky funk guilty pleasures like Grace Jones, Sade, & Seal.

This song began with Stephen, who recorded it on his acoustic guitar and bass to a programmed drum track a few months ago. We were all thrilled to work on it, even though it sat in BandLab as a project for almost a month before Stephen separated the tracks, thus allowing us to trickle in our parts. JJ was first to jump on it, because he could before the tracks were separated, as his part is completely his idea. He added the organ that really set up the entire sound of both dominant sections of the song. 
  Ken was first up to the project once the tracks were replaceable, making the wild, driving beat his own. Inspired by both JPJ and Michael Ivins, Josh laid down his bass line, trying to match Ken's energy. Last, but not least, Mark jumped in with the rumbling timpani. He also added the flavorful harmonica, and unique jaw harp you hear throughout, as well. 
  At that point, Stephen also got the idea to add the hambone percussion at the very end of the song, which we all consider a treat, and after showing us how it's done, Mark volunteered his percussion skills to give it a go. Stephen wasn't done with it, though, and still had some magic to sprinkle. He went in and added the howling electric guitar you hear prominently in the second main section. Also, he added the tempting intro with his acoustic guitar and electric mandolin that looks like a Telecaster guitar. 
  Once it was in the bag, we thought it appropriate for our master mixer Stephen to put it to bed, which he did in his always expert manner. Mark did help with the production, though, as he's very good with editing and spotting mistakes that need to be corrected.
  This is a gift from Stephen to all of us, and you, too. It took a lot of teamwork to make the dream work, as always for Eclectic Collective. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

A journey of someone battling severe anxiety 😰🖤 – their daily fight to break free from its suffocating grip.
Fear spirals until they can’t leave the house, trapped in a bottomless black hole 🕳️.
They ache to step out, to show the world what they’ve GOT 🔥✨ – but judgment and overthinking every stare hold them back.

The coverart 🖼️ is meant to look like “David Bowie”  This song is dedicated to him, I tried to recreate his vocals using AI, he is national treasure and legend. I wasn’t his biggest fan but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t a great artist.  He was baritone singer able to register in the vocal range of B1 to Eb6, he was able to hit high falsetto’s using Tenor agility. He had a Very rare and unique singing style. 🎤 🎶

🎂 I have just completed another 365-day trip around the sun, as one year ends and a new one begins. This milestone is familiar, as I am now officially twice the age I was when my oldest son was born. (Where did the time go?)

This time of year invariably leads me to reminisce, while simultaneously looking to the future. In reflection, I am always grateful and amazed to have overcome some very tough times, while my heart is filled with joy from revisiting wonderful memories.  Above all, I am thankful not only for the gift of life, but also for the fact that there is no age limit for dreaming. (Thank goodness! 😊) Every new day dawns with promise, bringing us the opportunity not only to pursue our dreams but also to make a meaningful difference.  

These thoughts provided some inspiration for an improvisation today.  (Recorded on my "senior" Yamaha Clavinova, which has completed nearly 26 trips around the sun! 😊)

Wishing everyone listening more joyous days and continued dreams for the future.
