Who better to kick off the inaugural release of SOBO [Sounds Of Beaubien Ouest] than Patrick Holland, best known as Project Pablo. Affiliated with the Canadian Riviera's 1080p troupe, as well as Seb Wildblood's Church and Lone's Magicwire – Holland now adds Beaubien Dream as the fourth instalment to his 12" series. The Beaubien connection comes from Montreal's Rue Beaubien, of which Holland is a resident. SOBO is headed up by fellow longstanding citizens of the Beaubien Ouest hood, Arbutus Records and their extended family – of which Holland is an instrumental part.

An initial teaser of the EP's opening "Closer" was aired publicly during Holland's BR London set back in October, as well as his NTS appearance with Lone and Gabriola earlier this year. Now, after a patient seven-month wait, we can finally wrap our mitts around it in its entirety. Alongside its two subsequent components, the track acts as a homage to Holland's home. With its distinctive Dx7 melodies, jingly percussion provided by bells (of the cow variety amongst others) and an insatiable groove growing lazily throughout – "Closer" is instantaneous happiness.

Dumbo Gets Mad is a psychedelic pop duo based in Italy. With three full length album under his belt, the project is characterized  by its eclectic sound, melted with a complex and unique mixture of musical styles. The band is working on a fourth release, that will come out in 2019.

Well, the song is about relationship, especially when you lose someone who is  really important for you.. This test you, because in some way you need to start over again, leaving your comfort zone for the unknown.

For Wayward's latest offering, they turn once more to Silver Bear Recordings just after their newly announced position as co managers of the label - in the process reminding us of the depth of talent that remains a hallmark of their output.  

This premiere's 'Space Marines'  provides real edge to the record, with techno-leaning drums and freaky samples that make for a pumping but classy groove, finished in style by some heavenly sounding, uplifting pads.  With support from Resident Advisor and Mixmag on their Raval EP as well as releases on the likes of Cin Cin Records and Beats of No Nation, the pair boasts an eclectic sound that is able to bridge the gap between the dance floor and the more soulful side of electronic music.

In Spring, Scrimshire releases a huge remix project, featuring Nite Jewel, Hector Plimmer, Red Rack'Em & more. The 2nd remix to be taken from the LP is by former Brownswood Bubbler & hugely innovative multi-disciplinary artist Kayla Painter.

The producer, who is developing a reputation for her inspiring visual shows as much as her experimental audio fusions, delves deep into Madison McFerrin's heavenly vocals on I Never. Cutting together the crescendo of jazz drums with a more insistent bass and attack of kick drums, Kayla's remix is powerfully affecting while remaining perfectly understated.
