Christian Kerr 'Reflection'

When approached by Corr to record a mix for Flow Sessions, the offer truly couldn’t have come at a better time for me as a DJ. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be involved in the series, so big thanks to the team. The platform is such a wonderful showcase of talent that is consistently bringing the goods.

For the past couple of years, I’ve spent a lot of time experimenting and navigating the different flavours of sound available and I’ve found that this adventure has lead me down various windy pathways quite similar to ‘The Labyrinth’ story. This is a film I often refer back to for inspiration when building my sets or when playing the cello. Embarrassing reveal? Perhaps. But I was very young when taught about the close correlation between musical sound and storytelling and ever since, I’ve always tried to keep that story interesting. I’ll often break down my mix into evolving musical chapters, carefully walking the thin line of tasteful genre-transitioning.

For this mix I have taken full advantage of the time allocated in order to deeper explore the spectrum and step out of my comfort zone. There are many melodic and emotive passages woven into big grooves and driving percussion, keeping a strong sense of momentum throughout the ride.

Please enjoy the next three hours and thirty-three minutes of carefully selected sonic pleasures and listen out for a couple of my recently released collaborations. This process of curation has been such a great experience and I’m absolutely stoked to share the finished product with you all.

"French Girl In Berghain was inspired after a weekend lost in Berlin. It’s our first collaboration together and much like those 48 hrs we tried to find a balance between order and chaos.” Sandeman & John Monkman.

The exact story behind ‘French Girl In Berghain’ remains a mystery. Only Sandeman and Monkman know the true origins of this dark and seedy cut. Two questions remain unanswered – who is she and what really happened that night in Berghain? The track feeds the imagination with its warm swinging bass and seductive French female vocals, deep bass and penetrating electronic chords that climax in a frenzy of laughs, giggles and erratic synths.

I was a little slow putting this up, but as we all head into isolation maybe it is now in fact the perfect time? 

This is my set from the Subterran stage at Earth Frequency Festival 2020. Once again it was such an honour to be apart of this festival, every time I attend this event I leave grounded, happy and full of growth. Thanks again to everyone involved putting on this event, especially with the crazy weather we had leading up to it. 
Curating and playing this set was an absolute pleasure, it has some of my favourite tracks that I had collected throughout the year; I hope it translates well through Soundcloud and you all enjoy! <3
