19Ninty_ pays homage to Heidorgen's mom who went by the name Mixtress Venus. She was a resident DJ at Vancouver club Graceland in the late 80's / early 90's. She knew how to pack a punch with her unique and groovy DJ sets which kept the dance floors going all night long. The vocal samples heard in 19Ninety_ are by none other than Mixtress Venus when she played her 1990/1991 New Years Eve show to a sold out audience at Graceland.

19Ninety_ takes influences of that time period with
a modern infusion of house production and synth manipulation.

Since her childhood, there had always been a blueprint for what love and happiness looked like. She'd see it on the TV, in films and magazines, so surely this must be how it plays out in real life, right? Soon enough though she'd become disenchanted with these falsities, to her they were now sugar coated fantasies that bore no comparison to the realities of love and heartache. It was transparent, as clear as day; the blueprint never existed.

Continuing their mission to showcase the traditional music of Korea through a contemporary lens, Seoul-based label Tonal Unity set about releasing the second in a series of three V/A EPs with artists interpreting these raw, ancient sounds. Among those artists featured are X.Y.R., Beck Junghyun, Ryuji Ono, Fortunato, DJ Bowlcut and Tokyo native and Hole and Holland boss Mamazu, who layers hypnotic drums and synths with slivers of Korean Minyo vocal samples.

Growing up Heidorgen gravitated towards hip-hop culture inspired by the likes of @wearedelasoul, @aesop-rock-official, and @runthejewels, with further influences coming from House, Garage, Funk, Jazz, & Soul.

After a decade of writing rhymes as an emcee, he went on to discover his eclectic influences and develop his own unique style of sample-based electronic music whilst also completing a degree in Audio Engineering and Music Production at SAE Institute Vancouver.

His crisp and intriguing production and sound design is evident in his growing portfolio of impressive work, which has included working on film sets as an audio engineer & boom-operator, as well as in post-production as a Foley artist & sound mixer and designer.

As a DJ, @Heidorgen has performed with the likes of @Moases, @tru-msg and @AtomikBros and is currently working on a live performance merging live instrumental, turntablism and Ableton Push.

2024 sees @Heidorgen continue to evolve his production style merging UK Garage and House music with his prominent style of sample chops and session arrangements.
