A New Way Of Living' is the culmination of Australian producer Griffin James' hard work and dedication to creating glorious sample-based electronica. Whether it be touches of disco or flurries of drum machines, James' sound is truly his own and his upcoming seven-tracker is a joy from start to finish.

To whet your appetite for the release we have the premiere of 'Ellingfort Road' and this one bounces and floats through its six-minute run time. Delicate cymbals and shuffles open the track up before a steady 4/4 and elegant strings get teased in. It's summery, uplifting and a perfect example of what FIO is all about.

Back in May, we Debuted a track called "Just"; you might just have heard of it. @feelmybicep are no strangers to breakout belters, but even by their standards this one has been picking up a heap of plaudits. So naturally we're more than willing to help facilitate their next step toward world domination, especially given as it arrives via their own cherished namesake imprint.

This, the title track from another forthcoming collaborative release with Hammer (an artist the Belfast boys are putting serious muscle behind) is equally tense and beguiling. It hooks you in from the word go, with a nagging piano lead, ooft-y mini breakdown and shiver-inducing sirensong calling through the mist. Close your eyes and you can imagine "Dahlia" laying waste to festival stages – oh wait, that actually did actually happen at Bicep's homecoming BR. Go figure.

Frits Wentink - Yeah But Maybe Never

Hiding slightly out of plain sight, Australian producer Mood J has been secretly crafting lush house jams for the last half decade bubbling just under the visible surface.

With the artist and Asquith having briefly touched base at the beginning of the label's journey, it took only a chance encounter in a Ballarat bungalow in 2016 to reignite the flames of the artist-label relationship. Jimmy surprisingly bumping into Jon (Mood J), as he was Daze's housemate in Aus, whilst the Lobster crew were on tour there.

Mood J's hard drive was stashed with archive of warm, sizzling, analogue studio tracks cooked to the nines, and so here we are just over 14 months later with the full epic debut in hand.

The edits-y anthem Turn Your Love Around kicks things off in huge fashion with a stomping & heaving flip of a proper classic. Arrangement never felt so tight and this one rides heftily into the night. NY Vibration follows, smoothing things out with a lolloping New York house twist layered with rippling, resonant deep haus pads, searing top lines and an easy spoken word. 

The flip kicks off with The Arps, a skittering hat skater with an ascending, descending and cascading arp line that hisses with sea spray and hot evenings in central Victoria. 

Providing the last hurrah of the night we have Moonlight Drive. Summer heartbreak captured in a single moment and a slap bass. A melancholy Juno riding over a hint of twinkling optimism, saying that it's not over yet.

Heist Recordings was founded by Dam Swindle as a means to gain full control over their own releases, and to create a stage for likeminded musicians to showcase their music. From the first release on, Dam Swindle’s “Break up to make up” EP in summer 2013, Heist has been a go to label for proper underground house and electronic music. Now, nearly 40 releases and 5 compilations in, Heist has brought forward artists like Frits Wentink, Nebraska, Adesse Versions, Fouk, Kassian, Nachtbraker and Alma Negra and continues to search for new talent, with Lars & Maarten fully focused on the A&R side of the label. 

Up till 2016, remixes on the label have been solely done by other original Heist artists on the yearly “Round up EP”, where the remixer and remixee get connected by the luck of the draw and a limited edition double pack is put out. After that, Maarten and Lars decided it was time to add remixers to the EP’s as well, which saw interesting collaboration, expanded the label family with names like Matthew Herbert, Tom Noble, Pépé Bradock, Ge-ology and Byron the Aquarius. 

In 2023 we've celebrated 10 years of Heist Recordings. The year showed a whole batch of releases by new artists like Byron the Aquarius, Amy Dabbs and Cinthie and by Dam Swindle themselves.
