2024 saw the return of real deep house to the clubs and with label hits like Makèz & Life on Planet’s release Running from the noise, Crackazat’s euphoric track ‘In the sky’ and Dam Swindle’s soulful bumper ‘Forever and Ever’, we know that there’s some serious heat available for this year’s Round Up.  

We’re going into the 11th year of our annual remixes and we’ve got some tasty & unexpected combinations of artists. One of the highlights on this release is definitely Fouk’s remix of Elisa Elisa’s banger ‘Whistle me’. The original quickly gained support from many of the leading women in dance such as Shanti Celeste & Saoirse and we’ve now got Dutch duo Fouk with one of their best remixes in years by doing a complete flip on the warehouse vibe of the original. Their version is full of tropical whistles and percussion and cleverly detunes Elisa’s own vocal to match their style with a laid-back mood and heartwarming chords. This is the kind of track that transports you straight to a sunny beach where sunsets are the highlight of the day and dancing in the sand is all you wanna do. 

Dam Swindle choose to remix DJ Sneak’s dark ghetto’esque track ‘I can tell you what you want’ and have turned it into a peak time garage monster with classic 909 elements, catchy vocal chops and a lead that soars through the track with relentless energy. This is the kind of track that gets any house party going with it’s immediacy and extremely effective arrangement.  

On the other side of the spectrum, there’s Kaap’s remix of Crackazat DJ Sneak’s remix of Makèz that show you just how lush deep house can be with dubby elements, beautiful synth work. Perfect for the warm up and after hours! 

Makèz shows us why they’re one of the most exciting producers coming out of The Netherlands at the moment with their uplifting remix of Dam Swindle’s gospel-house tune ‘Forever and Ever’.  Crackazat’s synth wizardry is evident on his summery remix of Fouk’s latin-inspired jam ‘Tapioca. Lastly we see Elisa Elisa show her signature big room & warehouse style as she turns last year’s festival hit by Kaap ‘Sereen’ into a bleepy acid affair.  

There’s always a huge amount of support on the Round Up series from all across the board on radio, streaming Dj’s alike and this edition will be no different!

Makez - Running from the Noise Feat. Life On Planets (DJ Sneak Dub)

Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Conor Gaffney, developed a passion for music at a very young age. Being from the largest city in the nation, his influences ranged across a large spectrum of genres. Conor never learned composition theory or took classes in school, but he felt a strong connection with music, and always kept it close to him through the years to come. Taught and mentored by a close friend, Conor found an outlet for his passion for music - audio production and performance of electronic music.

Conor has graduated in the Audio Engineering program at Pacific Audio Visual Institute in Vancouver January 2012 - 2013 with a degree in Audio Engineering | Music Production | Sound Design | Recording Arts. During his year of study at PAVI, he was the operations manager of the School of Remix a similar private post secondary educational facility. His responsibilities included financial management, setting budgets, negotiating contracts with suppliers, financial reporting, fundraising and making best use of the school’s resources. Management of support staff, such as teaching assistants, Human resources, including overseeing staff training strategic planning, including meeting long-term education challenges and developments. Relationship management with other schools and external partners. Instruction and course development of audio production programs, recording arts and digital DJ software.

He has since signed with a major Canadian label - True Spin Records as an official artist, and has become a resident performer at Habitat Living Sound in Calgary. He has been operations head a very successful monthly residency for over a year called Secret Society. The concept of the night was to give experienced and aspiring artists alike a platform to be able to express there passions. “ I feel an obligation to provide an opportunity for artists within the city to become part of this incredible community. My goal is to make this wonderful evolution of music production a huge success in our country or internationally in whatever capacity I can support”. His leadership qualities with in the collective are incredibly important to the growth of the community and culture. Conor’s endeavors have been very beneficial to the business, as his greatest strength is dealing with the public.

In late 2014 he relocated to Kelowna, British Columbia where he is currently the Talent Purchaser | Social Media Director | Resident DJ at Habitat Social Club he has been the operations head of a successful weekly residency for over a year called Formosa. In early 2015 he has accepted the position of assistant stage director of The Beach Stage at famous Fozzy Fest Music and Arts Festival located south of Fernie British Columbia at Lake Koocanusa, which he has performed and promoted at for the past three consecutive years.

Conor’s most recent venture is launching a private post secondary educational facility focused on Music Production | DJ Instruction | Sound Design | Recording Arts - Digital Envy Studios. The top priority is to support the creative process and give you the knowledge you need to develop as a musician and artist. Small classes allow our instructors to work closely with each student and give them the guidance they need to further their personal artistic growth. The wide range of mu- sic production and DJ programs are offered throughout the year, with flexible class scheduling. Finding the right option to suit you is easy no matter what your level of experience and | or time constraints may be. Our focus is to identify the long | short term goals of the client and customize pertinent curriculum to achieve the artists educational desires. Attending DES will zero in on your aspirations and design a way of learning around your personality. Everyone has a unique way of learning - we are committed to finding it. 


Heist Recordings was founded by Dam Swindle as a means to gain full control over their own releases, and to create a stage for likeminded musicians to showcase their music. From the first release on, Dam Swindle’s “Break up to make up” EP in summer 2013, Heist has been a go to label for proper underground house and electronic music. Now, nearly 40 releases and 5 compilations in, Heist has brought forward artists like Frits Wentink, Nebraska, Adesse Versions, Fouk, Kassian, Nachtbraker and Alma Negra and continues to search for new talent, with Lars & Maarten fully focused on the A&R side of the label. 

Up till 2016, remixes on the label have been solely done by other original Heist artists on the yearly “Round up EP”, where the remixer and remixee get connected by the luck of the draw and a limited edition double pack is put out. After that, Maarten and Lars decided it was time to add remixers to the EP’s as well, which saw interesting collaboration, expanded the label family with names like Matthew Herbert, Tom Noble, Pépé Bradock, Ge-ology and Byron the Aquarius. 

In 2023 we've celebrated 10 years of Heist Recordings. The year showed a whole batch of releases by new artists like Byron the Aquarius, Amy Dabbs and Cinthie and by Dam Swindle themselves.
