Dennis Ferrer steps up to transform a Girls of the Internet favourite on Classic, ‘Affirmations’ featuring Anelisa Lamola. With incoming shows at Defected’s new Pacha Ibiza residency, Mochakk’s Calling Festival and Dom Dolla’s residency at Hï Ibiza set for summer 2025, Dennis Ferrer continues to prove himself as one of the world’s premiere selectors. His status as a house innovator has been cemented through new ventures, including the launch of thriftshoppe with partner Olena Ferrer, and this highly anticipated label debut from an NYC legend heralds Classic’s 30th anniversary. Starting as a collaboration between Girls of the Internet’s Tom Kerridge and UK soul sensation Sophie Faith, ‘Affirmations’ was released in summer of 2023 prior to the collective’s full-length LP When I Was Lost, I Found Myself. Dennis Ferrer completely transforms ‘Affirmations’, taking Tom Kerridge’s emotive production and giving it undeniable synth bounce mixed with NYC grit, with Anelisa Lamola’s tender yet powerful vocals stretched and pulled to create rhythmic intricacies.

If there’s one record you’ll want to have this summer, it’s Ossie’s ‘That’s a vibe’ EP. The London producer makes his debut on Heist with an irresistible dance record loaded with high-energy UK grooves and a fair nod to classic US house music.  

DJ/producer Ossie Aneke a.k.a OSSIE has been releasing music for over a decade, releasing forward-thinking electronic productions on crucial imprints such as Hyperdub, Skepta’s Mas Tiempo, Brownswood and his own Supercali music. His Heist release features 4 tracks that are rich in sound, sampling and vocals and are all filled to the brim with personality. 

The EP kicks off with ‘That’s a vibe’; a shuffling and breezy affair with a quirky, high-pitched vocal and lovely chord chops that all fit together perfectly. The production is immaculate and you can hear Ossie feeling totally comfortable in his sonic space, where he takes the best parts of London and Chicago and blends it into something totally unique. With that catchy melody and vocal, this one is quite earworm. We've been playing this one out a lot, and the reaction from the crowd (and track id requests) are great (as seen in our recent raw cuts set in New York) 

“Are you still smiling” ups the tempo and takes us deeper into the London sound, with a riff of pulsating strings, garage drums and a nasty bassline. This track, (which could have easily been on Daphni’s latest album) has everything we like about contemporary electronic music. It’s full of feelgood elements, quirky samples and a groove that will get the even the stiffest hips shaking.  

Ossie is not one to go for the same trick twice, and he’s very well capable of going deep as we can hear on ‘Clay clay’. On this track, we see Ossie pay homage to classic US house music, with minor chords looping over a crunchy diva vocal and a solid house groove. The EP finishes off on a high note with ‘True freedom’: a track full of energy with sampled chords and lots of vocal elements working together to great effect. The percussion programming is clever and full of forward momentum and the bass is so fat it probably won’t fit through club door.  


Ossie delivers an EP that’s unique, catchy and produced with such confidence, that these tracks have already become a staple in our sets.

Heist Recordings was founded by Dam Swindle as a means to gain full control over their own releases, and to create a stage for likeminded musicians to showcase their music. From the first release on, Dam Swindle’s “Break up to make up” EP in summer 2013, Heist has been a go to label for proper underground house and electronic music. Now, nearly 40 releases and 5 compilations in, Heist has brought forward artists like Frits Wentink, Nebraska, Adesse Versions, Fouk, Kassian, Nachtbraker and Alma Negra and continues to search for new talent, with Lars & Maarten fully focused on the A&R side of the label. 

Up till 2016, remixes on the label have been solely done by other original Heist artists on the yearly “Round up EP”, where the remixer and remixee get connected by the luck of the draw and a limited edition double pack is put out. After that, Maarten and Lars decided it was time to add remixers to the EP’s as well, which saw interesting collaboration, expanded the label family with names like Matthew Herbert, Tom Noble, Pépé Bradock, Ge-ology and Byron the Aquarius. 

In 2023 we've celebrated 10 years of Heist Recordings. The year showed a whole batch of releases by new artists like Byron the Aquarius, Amy Dabbs and Cinthie and by Dam Swindle themselves.
