The andhim boys have been close friends of our family for nearly a decade, when we brought them to the US for the first time and they rocked a Brooklyn rooftop dancefloor with their infectious Super House sound. They are two of the most talented, hilarious, exciting and humble people in electronic music -- it's an honor to host this milestone radio show for a fresh new mix from the boys from Cologne. andhim are a German DJ and producer duo consisting of Simon Haehnel & Tobias Müller. Since their founding year 2010, they have published over 60 songs and remixes. They have worked with artists such as Theophilus London, Diplo, Hogni Egilson, Groove Armada and Elderbrook and made it to number 31 on the German Single Charts with their remix for Wine & Chocolates. 

The two describe their sound as “super house” - their very own definition of electronic music that, whether melodic or deep, always bears the typical andhim fingerprint. In addition to the musical component, the two have placed great emphasis on a strong visual concept in their representation as an artist, which is reflected in countless music videos. They always present themselves with a wink,
without sabotaging the seriousness of their art.

With over 100 international shows annually and residencies in New York, Los Angeles, London and Melbourne, they are among the most successful DJ duos in the scene. Due to their past as turntablists, their skills on the decks are unmatched. As part of the 'Noisy Stylus' turntable crew, Tobias became a multiple ITF and DMC champion and had a lasting influence on the scene at the time.

In 2016 they founded their own label Superfriends Records, a label that captures the pair’s charm and ebullience; one that has moved from gentle eclecticism through infinite fun into a refined and contagiously unique electronic sound. It is an outlet for the duo’s most ambitious ideas. An independent exercise in only the finest studio output from themselves to those that inspire, influence and impress.

Andhim have over the last decade cultivated an exceptionally loyal fan base of musical lovers and peers alike; that continue to crave the German pairs musical agility and action packed forays.

In 2020 their documentary film "Miles To Go" was released, a road trip along the west coast of America, which shows a deep dive into the lives of the two on tour and how they work with each other. The documentary has been shown at several international film festivals so far and has won two coveted prizes: “Best Score” (Swindon Independent Film Fest, UK) and “Best Documentary Feature” (San Diego IKFF, USA). The music in the film was written exclusively by the two and released at the same time as the film as a soundtrack album "Miles To Go".

On that sunny and hot day in August, Hekske - the little witch – suddenly felt the urge to collect flower seeds.  Also Falke – the 10-year old witch apprentice – felt the same and the girls immediately started to pick seeds from all corners of their home forest in Flanders, and they even asked some dunnocks and finches to go and search in the nearby fields and marshlands.  A couple of hours later, they had collected hundreds of seeds from dozens of different plant species.  The two girls meticulously packed the seeds in 2 pouches, which they put around their neck before taking off from a clearing.  They flew the whole day in Eastern direction over mountains and valleys, before the little witch sensed they had reached her destination on the bank of the mighty Dnieper River, where they were being welcomed by Mriya (Мрія), a twelve year-old witch whom Hekske had already met in February (see Witchtape #117).  
After a long welcome hug, Mriya explained that she was sad because this year there were - for no apparent reason - no flowers in the lowlands around the river, while there were lots of butterflies.  Then Hekske and Falke smiled at each other and showed their pouches which were brimful of flower seeds.  Мрія was speechless and moved to tears.  And just at that moment, witches were arriving through the mist from all directions, even from places as far away as the shores of the Baltic sea and the banks of the river Ob.  And they all carried a pouch of flower seeds.  After the initial excitement, they suddenly realized that the soil was bone-dry, so the seeds could not be sown.  But just when all the witches had lost hope, they heard the hum of an airplane in the distance.  Through the mist, they were unable to see what was approaching them, but the sound was way louder than from any plane they knew.  And then the huge airplane with 6 engines broke through the clouds with a deafening roar, straight over the heads of the witches.  Strangely, the plane split the low clouds and a path of blue sky opened up.  The witches looked at each other and decided to take off and follow the path in the sky, while throwing the flower seeds on the soil underneath them.  And when the path in the clouds closed again, raindrops started to fall.  The witches were soon soaked to the bone, but happy when they saw the flower seeds germinate and grow into a green carpet (helped by a ‘growth accelerator’ spell).  The next morning, all the flowers were blooming and the butterflies were frenetically drinking sweet nectar from the colorful flower carpet.  Mriya and all other witches, watched this spectacle in a cheerful mood, after which they went swimming in the mighty Dnieper River.  Dreams never die…

So, the album is presented as an auditory log of a clinical experiment—a series of controlled ventures into the human subconscious.
