
As ever with the Hell Yeah crew, there is an interesting back-story to the label’s next release, the ambitiously titled Coast to Coast EP. Firstly, the title refers to the fact that Justin VanDerVolgen hails from the east and Doc Martin the west coast of America, but that’s not all…

The label boss first heard Alexander Robotnick’s Undicidisco*track in a set by Golf Channel associate *Justin Vandervolgen. He went to ask what it was and turns out the track had only been released digitally. Keen to give it the full release it deserved on wax, he fully licensed it and got a remix from the man who first played it, as presented here. So far it’s done well, with Running Back boss Gerd Janson playing it recently at P-Bar – of, course it went down a storm... and Beats In Space's Tim Sweeney shouting "This is the Jam"... wow

The track itself is seven minutes of playfully droning bass synths and boom-bap percussion. It’s alive with darting synth tweaks and twitches and races through outer space at an inviting pace, radiating good time vibes from start to finish.

It’s a similar story with the flip – Hell Yeah’s Marco heard one of his (and dance music in general) heroes, Doc Martin, playing the Florian Meindl's bass driven original mix and immediately wanted to give it a full release, but not before asking Doc for a remix.

That remix is released here and is a heavyweight, shuffling bit of house funk with a tight, knotted and tumbling bass refrain propping up soaring diva vocals and grainy, infectious claps. It’s a wavy and hugely inviting groove that has plenty of lip-curling attitude to it.

A fine release with a great backstory that comes complete with great vinyl artwork designed by Andrea Amaducci, this Coast to Coast EP is yet another fine weapon in the Hell Yeah cannon.

Gnork and Luv*Jam have been working together for more than 5-6 years now, doing lots of gigs, remixes, collaborative EPs, appearing on various compilations. They have always worked a little bit more than what they let us think, accumulating tons of unreleased gems. The time has come to reveal some hidden goodies and we're proud to be premiering one of these secret blorpers from their new EP 'Bonus Blorps', out on Crow Castle Cuts.

The original Blorp93 yellow vinyl surfaced in 2013 and was championed by the likes of RVDS, Bradley Zero, DVS1 and Wolf Music. Since this time, there have been a few secret cuts floating around here and there, some of which lots of people were 'demanding' to be pressed. Brame & Hamo are back with the third release on their eponymous imprint. ‘Trants’ and ‘Club Orange’ effortlessly upheld the Berlin based duo’s reputation for dancefloor ready hits, with the latter selling out in one day. Picking up where the others left off, ‘Limewire EP’ is a nod to their early influences channelling house, techno, trance and breakbeat.

Over three tracks, Brame & Hamo brandish the party starting spirit they are rapidly becoming known for. Broken beats feature heavily alongside subtle acid licks, uplifting harmonies and sweltering synth lines.

‘Parade Rain’ is a peak time house roller with pulsing bass, meditative pads and airy pipes that polish it off to make a fine rendition to early 90’s house. ‘Sports Complex’ the darkest of the EP, builds an intense energy with a heavy hitting 808 , shuttering reflections, a driving 303 line topped off with a trance-inducing melody that makes this into a big room bomb. The title track is a breakbeat workout honing a classy piano riff complimented with emotional synths, strings and more acid lines, a fruit for clarity. Finally “Tuff City Kids” aka Gerd Janson & Lauer round it up with a club ready interpretation of their title track, adding more drum layers, a jittering bassline and a simple but effective melody to finish it off.

‘Limewire’ EP finds the duo exploring a range of influences, expertly referencing various styles whilst still weighing in the sound that is now unmistakably theirs.
