Четвёртый по счёту полноформатный альбом украинского ритуал-фолкового коллектива выдержан в той же стилистике, что и предыдущие альбомы, но… На то они и ВЕЖА ХМАР, чтобы каждый раз, не меняя стиль в корне, удивлять каждым следующим альбомом. Чем же на этот раз порадовал нас дуэт гарных украинских дивчин? Много чем. Будем разбирать по порядку. Что-то в этом альбоме есть такое, что напоминает релиз 1999 года «Колискова». Атмосфера сказочности, очень размытые эффектами вокальные партии, в которых опять же присутствуют моменты, когда музыка сама из себя начинает лепить какие-то визуальные образы или несёт душу, подобно воздушному кораблю, в мир древних Славянских преданий. Однако здесь все эти моменты разработаны гораздо глубже, плюс присутствует ряд новых, которые делают этот альбом ВЕЖИ ХМАР неповторимым.
Во-первых это природные звуки, которые со времён «Плача» используются группой впервые. Во-вторых – совершенно другое, чем на всех предыдущих альбомах, звучание: более спокойное, чем в «Обличчях», менее абстрактное, чем на «Колисковой». Короче, это именно сон: логичный, но в то же время трудно объяснимый, туманный, но вместе с тем кристально ясный. Третья особенность – тексты, которые сильно отличаются не только от «Колисковой», но и вообще ото всего написанного ранее. Если в «Плаче» тексты представляли собой личные переживания, в «Колисковой» - сказочные баллады, а в «Ii чотирех обличчях» - эпические сказания о сути Силы, создавшей Мир, то здесь всё, что было раньше переплетается в единое целое. Основа – что-то личное, чисто человеческие эмоции, но всё это поднято на высоты эпического полотна и расцвечено сказочными, яркими, живыми цветами. Скажем так… Не знаю, как отнесутся к такой попытке интерпретации сами участницы группы, но мне кажется, что сочетание текста и музыки на этом альбоме – это попытка проникнуть во внутренний мир человека, жившего до христианства, попытка воскресить его чувства, переживания, образ мышления.
Очень неоднозначный альбом, в котором, правда, нет такой хитовости, если это слово вообще приемлемо к творчеству этого коллектива, мощной и завершённой концепции, как в «Обличчях», но есть нечто, делающее именно его неповторимым. Да, на первый взгляд кажется, что каждую песню в отдельности запомнить трудно, кажется даже, что это недостаток, но хорошенько вслушавшись, понимаешь, что именно так «Сон» и должен звучать. Если взять мощный и хитовый (менее размытые и с первого раза запоминающиеся мелодии) «Ii Чотири Обличчя», как объект сравнения со «Сном» и как отправную точку в развитии, то думается, что следующим этапом развития именно в эту сторону (то есть в сторону насыщенности и напряженности звучания, плюс хитовость) должна бы стать чёткая ритм-секция и более рОковое звучание (вроде бы логично?), однако для «Сна» такой ход событий просто неприемлем. Поэтому, не найдя в нём такого, казалось бы логичного поворота, слушатель может не понять альбом. Но уверяю Вас, господа, он стоит того, чтобы прислушаться повнимательнее. В нём есть своя изюминка, и чтобы её прочувствовать, «Сон» надо слушать не спеша и несколько раз, что, собственно, я и сделал, прежде чем сел писать эту рецензию.

Artist background / Bio: Costallic is the creation of Anders Martinsson, a long-time music and audio enthusiast currently living Kungsbacka, Sweden. Born in 1975 and influenced in equal amounts by both early and contemporary ambient works and soundtracks, the focus lies in bringing timeless cinematic atmospheres and musical landscapes to the listeners.

Creative process: Simplicity is the guiding principle as this shortens the creative distance between inspiration and result, using an entirely hardware-based instrument setup without midi also adds a human element to the music. Often no more than one instrument is used for each track, all tracks are recorded, layered, and mixed using multi-track software.

The music: Ambient has always been there, adding to any experience or reflection without forcing any context upon the listener by itself, it can shape your focus, reinforce emotions or a state of mind, all while being by it self emotionally neutral, in a way the feelings it brings originates from the listener.
