With "Subtle Movements" British artist Vinny Vortex makes his first full length album appearence on DWI. Some of you may remember Vinny from his contributions to our "Drone Works" compilations.

With "Subtle Movements" he presents a great set of meditative ambient drone soundscapes. The concept behind the project was to try and strip things down to the bear minimum, and to create soundscapes for sound therapy. In particular case for his daughter who struggles to sleep and quite often listens to his ambient compositions. The album is dedicated to her.

"Subtle Movements" was created on a very small modular system. This gave him real focus to maximise the potential of the system. Vinny is a firm believer of the 'less is more' concept.

A wandering poet and ascetic Zen priest, Santōka was a disciple of Ogiwara Seisensui, one of the first poets to discard the traditional use of the 5-7-5 structure in haiku.

Santōka’s poetry emphasizes the necessity of sabi (solitude) in order to achieve spiritual enlightenment and serenity.

Mount Shrine (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) serves us a warm and inviting ambient album. 

Rain pounds the temple as you look out across snowy mountains from a lotus position. A wet furred hare seeks refuge beside you, curious about the kettle of hot tea that rests at your side. 

A distress call led you here, transmitted to a frequency on your Ham radio. The journey here was long and filled with majestic sights. Isolated villages, melting snow in forgotten valleys, the robed order of the silent all calmed your mind. The rolling fog followed you every step of the way to enlightenment. 

Recommended for lovers of subtle field recordings and sleep ambient. Warm, inviting and atmospheric. Best enjoyed with a cup of hot beverage on a rainy day.

The highly praised live album of the Dutch cult ensemble from 2011 finally available on cd & vinyl.

The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble’s liveshows were known for their transcendental journeys, mixing live improvisation with the structure form studio album songs. TKDE always worked with a complex live set up, linking multiple laptops, channeling, effects and looping systems to recreate the intricate sound of their music. During the period from 2007 till 2011 many live performances were recorded, and decided was to release a compilation of songs as a live album. In 2012, a year before the split of the project, the live album was released digitally to show the diversity and flexibility of the band live.

Cinematic and spiritual sounds from Gi Gi, conjuring a quasi-religious trance and made entirely from samples - ncluding Prince, Vangelis, Erykah Badu, and Miles Davis - warped, blended and smoothed over beyond recognition.

At times melancholic and at times hopeful, these lush textural soundscapes are worthy of an introspective listen; lights off, candle lit and somewhere comfortable.
