Ja, ich sitze nun öfters dazu. Und ich glaube ich werde musikalisch auch ein wenig ruhiger und gesetzter (werde ja nur noch um Ambient-Sets gebeten).

🗯🗯 Wie waren die Vorbereitung für den Mix? Woher kamen die Inspirationen? 🗯🗯
Wie so oft wenn der liebe Uwe mich um einen Mix bittet fängt es in mir gleich an zu vibrieren. Ich scanne innerlich all die tolle Musik, die ich (wieder-)entdeckt habe und mache mir über ein Konzept Gedanken, wie ich all das unter einen Hut (oder in einen Mix) packen kann. Irgendwann muss man sich dann halt für die 15-20 Songs entscheiden, was nicht leichtfällt. Und wirklich zufrieden bin ich dann sowieso nie damit, weil so viele tolle Stücke den Weg nicht in den Mix gefunden habe. Aber egal, mach ich dann halt noch einen...

Remember Chinese Whispers, Stille Post or Rikkinäinen Puhelin? That children’s game, known all over the world, that illustrates the difficulties of transmitting information, but which also reveals the creativity of discontinuous conversation? It feels like the Patterns of Perception and @awalkingcontradiction collectives have been in such a conversation for the past years across a multitude of label nights, private hangouts, and shared festival experiences.

Based in Basel, Switzerland but unhinged from national contexts, A Walking Contradiction is a label for music and research. Curated by @varuna4053, @lemont-eana and Dead Electronic Space Limited (@ltd_dead), the collective share a penchant for beats - broken and straight - yet can't help but churn out music for the quiet hours. A deeply reflective group, you’ll find snippets of their conversations on social, political, economic, and environmental issues hidden in sounds or in plain sight on the sleeves of their records.

Compiled entirely from new and unreleased material, their Patterns of Perception 102 is but the latest product of interlocutions and whispers between Basel, Berlin, Helsinki and the world in general, paying tribute to the significance of community where the legitimacy of commons is increasingly impugned. 
Levitating within a field of sophisticated textures and percussion, this set burns slowly, but with a luminescent intensity. Angular experimental ambience builds into winding, complex rhythms. Inspired minds elevate delicate melancholia into a true sense of hope.

The Moon In The Water.

The moon in the water is a powerful symbol, reflecting our deepest thoughts and emotions. It speaks to the fluidity of life and the constant changes we face. The moon and water represent the ebb and flow of time, reminding us that everything is temporary and that nothing stays the same.
From a philosophical perspective, the moon in the water can be seen as a metaphor for the soul's journey. Our lives are like waves constantly moving and changing, yet a deeper essence remains. This essence is our soul; just like the moon, it shines brightly and illuminates the world.
The moon in the water also holds great significance regarding the relationship between life and death. Just like the moon disappears from view each night, only to return, our lives have a beginning and an end. However, just like the moon's light continues to shine even when it is not visible to us, our impact and influence can continue to be felt long after we are gone.
In techno music, the moon in the water represents the energy and creativity that drives the genre forward. The constant movement and change of the music mirror the flow of life, reminding us to embrace change and to keep pushing forward. The deep, pulsing beats and hypnotic rhythms of techno music transport us to another world, just as the moon in the water transports us to a place of reflection and introspection.

Headliner/LaGuru  Founder of Feed The Raver
Jenny Arredondo is a true Techno enthusiast. A music and dance-floor lover. A crazy healthy raver that would dance for hours and hours to proper Techno beats and bass. She is known as the "Dancing Queen" in the underground NYC Techno scene and around the world. Her passion for music has no limits; she has music in her blood.
 
Jenny's music exploration journey began in 2012, and she plays and produces Deep Techno, Ambient and Electronica under the names "Headliner" and "La Guru". Her album "Techno Inquisition" was released on November 16th 2013 and her second album "Ubiquitous" was released on December 28th 2014. Her release "Dark Invader" was included in the compilation REGENERATION by the Spanish label Doppt Zykkler//Series on June 15th, 2015. Her track Headliner - Planck Epoch was included in the (DE19) Deep Diversity Vol. 3 - Deep Electronics Compilation released on November 5th, 2015. Her first EP "Rose Red Wounds" was released on July 16th 2021 also on the dutch label Deep Electronics. Her latest release "A New Hope" was a contribution to the Mastoid Kollektive - PINK in support of breast cancer and was featured along other tracks by amazing techno and house legends.
 
She organized underground techno events in New York for almost a decade and also hosted events in Detroit, Mexico City, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Playa del Carmen. In 2015, Headliner also became part of Female Pressure, an international network of female artists in electronic music and digital arts founded by Electric Indigo. You will often find her listening and discovering new tracks and artists, also at Techno events having the time of her life.
Feed The Raver is a podcast radio show that supports local techno artists from around the world including amazing guests like Dino Sabatini, Electric Indigo, Grand River, Saphileaum, The Alchemical Theory and many more...It also produced official press Detroit Movement Electronic Music Festival with yearly video interviews and photo coverage from 2012- 2016. Also was a media partner of Charivari Detroit festival in 2016.

Quadrant Soundscape: 
Duo consisting of Tommy Harrison (aka Asphalt Layer) and Wilson Logan (aka Scavenger) from Manchester. Together, they are the minds behind the Dub Explorations Radio Show, which has also been running live events at the famous Eastern Bloc Records for over 4 years.

The Radio Show itself has reached 100 shows, all 3 hours in length which is an insight into the dedication they have for hunting underground music to showcase and push forward. 

Over the years, the boys have featured on many podcasts across the globe, where their creative style of playing Ambient, Dub Techno, Minimal and Detroit Techno on 4 decks, while incorporating live samples is always well received. This has also led to them being invited to play many gigs in Manchester, London and Berlin.

You can also catch Quadrant Soundscape on Bloop London Radio, 12:00 – 1:00pm, on the fourth Thursday, every month for their 'Explorations into Dub' show!

Materielle: 
Materielle is leaving a lasting imprint on the worldwide sonic tapestry that is dub techno. Her
style pays homage to the genre’s deep roots in sound system culture while innovating to
broaden its horizons. A familiar face at clubs and warehouse spaces throughout Southern California, Materielle has firmly ingrained herself in West Coast techno. Her spacious sound signature breaks from the local scene’s status quo, however. Despite having now played records casually for over a decade, Materielle waited until 2019 to start her professional music career. She debuted at The LASH in LA, and in the years since she has performed at Academy LA, BANG BANG in San Diego, and Techno Taco Tuesday in Las Vegas. She also regularly plays at underground parties organized by 6AM, Dirty Epic, Synthetic Minds, and Incognito, not the least of which is the Spring 2023 edition of RE/FORM FESTIVAL. 2019 also marked the launch of DECKREKORD. Originally Materielle’s Twitch channel, it grew popular as the pandemic unfolded the following year and naturally expanded to function as a record label. Her first-ever track release, “Dichotomy,” appeared on the imprint’s
inaugural 2021 compilation The Offering. Soon afterward, she landed on Delusional Records
with a remix of “Out of the Shadows” by label cofounder Marie Nyx and they later signed her
fourth release. “Satin,” a 2022 single that speaks to Materielle’s range of creative expression.
Lush and atmospheric yet purpose built for the dance floor, its brutalist synth stabs perforate
tightly woven ripples of reverb delay. Materielle captures a similar dynamic in her DJ sets. Materielle has positioned herself to open the minds of music lovers across the globe. With each passing day, her future grows more closely intertwined with that of dub techno.

Ganz ruhige Töne kommen heute aus dem schönen Basel. Thom Monn ist ein alter Hase in der Basler Elektro-Szene und ein ganz besonderer Sound-Fetischist. Seine Sets erzeugen immer diese ganz besondere Stimmung denen man sich einfach nicht entziehen kann. Vor allem zwei Königsklassen der elektronischen Musik beherrscht er wie kein anderer --- zum einen ist er einer der besten Warm-Up DJs (hier sei sein Set „Warmup For Marek Hemmann“ erwähnt) und zum anderem ist er ein Virtuose der Ambient-Musik. Seine Ambient-Sets berühren die Seele, sind dann auch gerne mal melancholisch aber doch bleibt immer eine gewisse Zuversicht und Liebe zurück.

Thom vielen Dank, das du dir trotz dieses für dich so schweren 2016, die Zeit genommen hast uns so eine schöne Auszeit von der Realität zu zaubern.

As the cold approaches, I head east to the vast and ancient lands of Mongolia. Over the rugged expanses, mountains and through its capital Ulaanbaatar. 
Learning about Mongolian culture was deeply fascinating and leaves me with a yearning curiosity to discover more of the history of Mongolia.

I decided to focus on the traditional side of sound.
My selection aims to showcase the rich tradition of throat singing (höömji), long song, court music, and Mongolian pop.

By now we all know it is not just about selection or mere technique, neither it is about some right amount of each nor a certain mix of both. It is about generating these energies that surge between bodies and soundwaves and making them flow through the environment. Vladimir Ivkovic is one of the most gifted among those who can conjure such atmospheres by working aural materials in order to create the right conditions not only for all of those intense instants to appear but for a sequence of them to persist. "Emika & Paul Frick collaborate and make magical music from synths that play themselves (Emika) and extended piano layers (Paul Frick).  Emika began her explorations with programming synths to play on their own earlier in 2020 and released an album of these solo pieces (Chaos Star).  Very much into the flow, she played with synths in her studio throughout the day whilst entertaining her daughter and drinking endless cups of coffee. She captured midi files and sent them over to Paul creating a match made in heaven.  Paul recorded his signature edgy piano layers, bringing glitchy rhythms and bass tones to the mix.  That Paul worked with the Versio Duo glockenspiel robot, manifested as well on the record embossing: metal, felt and mechanical spin offs.  

Their music is like rainbow drops, raining colour and light bouncing from crystal gemstones.  Reminiscent of Erik Satie, Laurie Anderson and with a melodic glitchy nod to Aphex Twin.  The sounds are rewarding for the spirit, tickling our imaginations and caressing new ideas into fruition.  This record is impressive to wake up to and reflect on under the moonlight.  Both musicians have been around long enough to know how music with meaning feels and what to avoid when making it.  With a direct, no bullshit approach to music production and the industry, they harness their creativity into a powerful position. CNCPT is a talented drummer in the acoustic world, and he brings knowledge of building Techno and working electronically.  His reworks of the pieces made by Emika & Paul Frick bring their ambient rhythms into strong beat driven tracks that bring depth and mystery into the mix.  CNCPT brings the Berlin experimental Techno vibes, adding even more unusual night-time synth patterns into the originals, turning them into what they should have always been (if Emika & Paul Frick weren’t so in love with sound art and less concerned with club music).  A perfect match.  A very satisfying A & B realisation.

Paul Frick is one of the 3 musical masterminds from the contemporary ensemble: Brand Brauer Frick.  Emika toured with them in 2011 and they collaborated on her song "Pretend":
