The globe-spanning sound of East London duo Makola is the next stage in the evolution of the UK underground – a product of its legends and a portent of its future. DJ and producer Peter Hakola and rapper Samuel Kwame Mensah blend their Finnish and Ghanian roots to create a startling hybrid of sounds, contorting infectious afrobeat rhythms into fresh, floor-filling shapes over verses that reflect the reality of carving a place for yourself in the concrete jungle. Having amassed streams in the millions, with loyalty from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 1, Spotify’s Grime Shutdown Playlist and praise from tastemakers including Complex, Clash Magazine and GRM Daily, Makola are pioneering a sound you can’t ignore.

Raoul Vignal was born in Lyon (Fr). Soothing vocals and a delicate fingerpicking technique stand as his trademarks in composition. His music has many times been referred to as "visual".
