Organic Opera, founded in 2016, unites musicians in search of a homogeneous and colourful sound. The ensemble members Eva Leonie Fegers, recorder and soprano, Lukas Frank, organ and harpsichord, Tiago Xiera Leal and the guests Clément Gester, cornetto and recorder and Fabio Kapeller, percussion. The musicians are as diverse as their countries of origin: Austria, France, Germany and Portugal. The musicians got to know each other during their studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where they received basic musical impulses from Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, Augusta Campagne and Carsten Eckert. ORGANIC OPERA currently focuses on the music of the 16th and 17th centuries. An era in which austere, contrapuntal compositions of the Renaissance increasingly merge with the freer, affective aesthetics of early baroque opera. In addition to the interpretation of original literature from Italy, England and the Netherlands, the ensemble is also dedicated to arrangements in the style of Baroque music makers: flowing boundaries between interpretation, improvisation and composing.
