i stay on top of things
organize my life in chunks
but it's hard to stay atop my feet
when my laces run this long
got size 11's on my birthday from my mom
so i bought aftermarket shoestring
cause she got my sizing wrong

i know it's not what i want
but it'll feel the same
triple knot my shoes
cause you can never be too safe
i've done it all
i've done everything in needed
yet i'm falling on my face

do i lack the skills i need to make it
should i cut back the measures that i've taken
cause i can't stop falling over my own laces

quick scoff, just under a friend
or a pit stop, a means to an end
i can't stall for time when i'm the last in line
so i'll push up my glasses just to do it again !

then spend the next one on my feet
so i won't be the nerd for once
but the dust that's on my kneecaps

the bruises that my ego took
are sure to get their money's worth
the laughter through the hallways
