This is a wonderful work that gives us a sense of a bright future. I definitely would love to listen to it on New Year's Day.

New Beginnings

Civic "time keepers" are not unusual and some are quite famous; Big Ben comes to mind, Times Square of course.  Smaller towns may have a clocktower, or the local church may have chimes that ring at certain times of the day.  For St. Francis, Kansas, it was the civil defense siren.  It would sound three times a day; at 7:00 AM, 12:00 noon, and 6:00 PM, and take the day off on Sunday unless there was an emergency.  
Like the "Walkin' Boys", the St. Francis siren was integral to the character of the town and I felt it, too, needed a song;)  I decided to write the song as if the siren were telling its story.  And you're in luck, you even get to hear the actual siren and the dogs barking in chorus to help it sing its song.  Harvested from a forty year-old cassette tape, you'll hear a little hiss, but is quickly forgotten:)
Lyrics beginning with the chorus:

At 7:00 AM I herald the morning,
At 12:00 O'clock noon, I'm the dinner bell,
At 6:00 PM it's time to close up and go home,
And the in-between quiet means that all is well.
Verse 1:
You can hear me all over town,
And the valley for miles around,
I'm the St. Francis siren and I'm loud and clear,
I'm heard six days a week throughout the year.
It depends upon where you are,
In town or out on the farm,
Like an air-raid whistle, I can give you chills,
Or break the silence of the nearby hills.

But there are moments when I break my routine,
To signal danger often unseen,

Resulting from a collaboration with Taron (Taronium) this is a colorful quiet track inspired by the feeling of a bath in the woods.
We created this track for the April-24-OSC using the DAW MuLab9 and 22 instances of the great synth Charlatan-3 (three instances for Taron's almost inaudible birds!) plus a couple of Wider, Auburn Sounds Panagement, Valhalla Supermassive, Abstract Chamber.

Daily life, people, nature and all shades of mood continuously flood me with an incredible load of inspiration for sound and music.

I am so thankful that God has given us all the gift of being absorbed and resonate with sound !
Also thankful for modern life and media to absorb and share music so easily !

Trained as a classical violinist, member of orchestras and chamber groups, and being a passionate improviser on the piano, 
the Pandemic Lockdown has enforced and encouraged me 
to start composing and recording the music in my home sound studio.
