From the UK, South Africa, France and Australia, Inner Shift Music presents their Collective Continents II release, with Mark Hand, Platform 001, G-Prod and Leo Gunn. The Ep starts with Take Some Chances which has Jazz influenced pads, chords and changes with an addictive hook, by Mark Hand who has recent releases on Soul Print and Apollo. Next comes The Last Letter by newcomer Platform 001 - a deep house track with some funk style house chords and an inspiring spoken word poem, which holds the listener's attention throughout.

On the B side we have the Gaugain brothers G-Prod (who have releases on R&S and Nightflight), with their track Horizon which has a more techy feel with its moody pads, melodic lead and subtle but driving bassline.AAThe EP is complete with a whole other level of head-nodding deepness and warmth, with Aheeoo which you would come to expect from Leo Gunn, who is noted for his multiple appearances on Deep Explorer. 

Deep, jazzy, techy, warm and diverse, this EP is everything there is to love about deep house.

About Fitness Club:

Fitness Club is the dance-floor focused alias of Melbourne's Sinj Clarke and Berlin-based Ziggy Zeitgeist (Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange & 30/70 Collective).

The original concept being an amalgamation of humans and techno machines, the duo have quickly begun carving out a sound for the underground, exploring the depths of house, techno and nu-jazz. Intimate Fitness by Fitness Club is the end result of a year-long international creative partnership. A long-distance alliance creating a sound that has proven as unique as its creators.

With a tribalistic percussion launch into a warm and silky bassline, Supply Shuttle spins the dice on the deep house edges through linear but meticulous patterns of synth simplicity. 

The scarcity of snares puts the track just enough into the dance-floor realm but still exquisite enough for sun-drenched coast places especially with that subtle rhodes washing over the faint 303 shots in the background. Notal pulled a smooth move here further erasing the faint border between the two genres. And yes, sometimes the border gets pushed more into one over the other. 

Such is the case with Airlock Nation, clearly showing this imbalance in the most pleasurable way. With a straightforward shake onset floating on a solid rhythm throughout the ride, the track leans more on the floor side covering the early night with subtle and warm darkness step by step. The midnight glow emitting from the melodies is beautifully cocooned into deep sway smudged by ritual bongo hits. The track exports a sentiment of nostalgia in a positive and warm way while cleverly pushing the vibe over the mentioned border into a night dance. 

A Walk Thru The 20th continues this sway but implements a synth carrier into the foreground further developing the club feel. And this is where Notal shines truly because even in this kind of atmosphere he almost unnoticeably lays the track on perfectly fitting tribal shoulders stamping the core of the track with earth-grounding charisma. Both audio worlds, one audio shine. 

And still, on the other side of the playfield, Nature Of Offences is grounded heavily in slow and throbbing kicks paralleled with equally heavy claps and constant interchange of beautiful pads, strings and percussions. Although the track is stirred with a filtered 303 bassline, the overall feel points into a deep and seductive zone. 

It flows subtly through different areas of analogue and synthetic forms spewing a late 90s warm-up feel. Well rounded release from Aleqs Notal!

This new release from HELP presents music from various HELP-related artists. Another release from the Århus-imprint that doesn’t directly state “club-proof”, but still, this one wouldn’t mind having a spin or two by your local dance-pusher. The opening track is by Central; a fresh house tune with both melodies and good-vibes - maybe the closest this young man has come to making an anthem. Next up is the 4 piece group Maizena with a ambiguous rhythmical ambient-house jam from the area of Denmark where it rains the least. On the B-side you’ll find a raw and to the point recording of DJ Sports and C.K joining PH1 in his throwback techno-studio in the suburbs of Århus. Next up is the long awaited debut from Manmade Deejay, who has been cooking a floating rhythm jam for this 5 course meal of modern danish cuisine. Last but not least Amsterdam-based KAAP joined Central on a fine day at Rubber Studios to create this dreamy and galloping ride.  All in all this genuine piece of wax if filled with local devotion and love from the HELP-crew. Losoul - Sunbeams and the Rain

Third Space was inspired by a digital painting of a house by Marilyne Blais. A printout of the untitled work was pinned to the wall in Casa de Haiku studio, becoming an unexpected influence on the record. The duo realized early on they had started to imagine the soundscape inside the dream-like dwelling. The depth of field is fuzzy, angles are confused, and the structural integrity is unclear. On Third Space, People Plus wander freely between real and psychedelic territories, dipping into trip-hop, downtempo, and jazz. They find their sonic context in a hybrid space - neither the bedroom nor the dance floor.

Third Space is the second release from People Plus, a collaboration between Joli B and Mood Hut’s CZW.

Good news! Pacific Rhythm is once again connecting game with one of Toronto's most promising young duos, Active Surplus. Active Surplus is the collaborative project from Evan Vincent (AKA Emissive) and Ian Syrett, who also appear on this past winter's fourth volume of Rhythms Of The Pacific.

Their new self-titled EP is their love letter to the house music sound that first sprouted from the West Coast. It's laid-back, groovy and touched with lovely instrumentation. There's a confident, naturalistic quality to the rippling grooves and silky sounds of 'One Beyond', which the duo credit to an obsession with water. After all, in their words, "we might not live by the ocean, but we're all H20 on the inside."
