HENCE THEREFORE returns with STRATA, a new album of subtle ambient pieces. Culled from hours of iterative improvisation during a period of peak anxiety and insomniac disorientation, Strata's minimalist phrases expand languidly and fold back on themselves. Transients and reverb tails creak and shift uneasily like bumps and murmurs heard through walls. These are recordings whose nocturnal, domestic stillness is charged with a tension between comfort and dread.
