Fueled by a deep longing for people to experience the love of God, Stephen Blignaut started writing his own gospel music in 2018. Being a high school teacher in profession, he also felt a certain mandate towards writing music that could inspire people into deeper relationship with Jesus. He received some of his lyrics and melodies in dreams and wrote his songs out of a deep place that echoes intimacy with God.

He recorded six songs, of which two of the songs, “Shine Your Light” and “He’s Got a Plan”, was released before his album, "In This World", which is to be released on 23 October 2020.
 
The album "In This World" is, as described by Stephen, an actual miracle. The coronavirus lockdown period allowed him precious God-given time to record his music. Two of his songs, “He’s Got a Plan” and “Teach Us How to Fly”, was also written in this lockdown period. The theme of this album paints a picture of light versus darkness - the light of Jesus in contrast to the darkness of some of the difficult things that people are faced with in this world. The songs encourage Christians to shine their lights in a world that needs it. Also, the album title song, “In This World”, encourages people that there is always hope in this world with all its troubles and trials.
