If life is about "being in the right place at the right time," then Diz's timing could not have been better. Born and raised in Chicago, the original epicenter of the House Music uni-verse, his adolescence coincided with the beginnings of that city's legendary scene. Nowadays, if you mention Diz's name amongst House aficionados, you are almost cer-tain to hear adoration and respect for his insane
DJ skills, stage presence, and warm-hearted personality.
Diz's musical influences started at home, where his mother's love for Jazz led him to pursue the saxophone for many years. His DJ beginnings were about whatever he could get his hands on, like Disco and old Breaks records inherited from family members. When he was 14, his older brother took him to The Music Box, where Diz witnessed the true potential of House Music: to affect people's emotions and bring them together on a collective journey. He's been striving to do just that ever since, and in the process, has become a faithful participant in the music, the culture, and the times. Throughout high school, he frequented parties featuring DJs such as Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, Farley and many other masters, and finally had a chance to break into the scene at age 19 after meeting contemporaries Mark Farina, Derrick Carter and Spencer Kincey (Gemini). His early gigs were at Alcazar with Gemini, and at one-off parties. At his Wicker Park loft, what started as a means of paying
the rent developed into a two-year run as a nightclub, featuring Diz, Farina and Mark Grant on the decks. Soon after-wards, he and his friends took over Shelter, one of the city's "most severe night spots." >From roughly 1993-98, Diz was the Friday resident at Shelter, and the Saturday resi-dent at Red Dog alongside
Johnny Fiasco, and since then has held many residencies at other legendary Chicago spots.
In 1995, Diz accepted a job working for his brother's friend, Anthony Pearson (Chez Damier), at PRESCRIPTION (the label founded by Chez and Ron Trent).
PRESCRIP-TION conducted distribution business with CAJUAL, and that is how Diz met his future producing partner and close friend, Joshua (whose nickname as fate would have it, was "Iz").
In 1995, Iz n Diz produced their first record together, "Ghosts in Detroit," released on PRESCRIPTION's sub-label, BALANCE. A year later, Joshua/Iz moved back to San Francisco, but he and Diz maintained a close friendship over the years and continue to produce together for labels like CLASSIC, AESOTERIC, GUIDANCE,
TWEEKIN', SIL-VER NETWORK, and PANHANDLE.
Diz is currently on a touring tear taking him one of the planet to the other while some-how finding time to finish up an album with mate Iz, coming soon!

DT is proud to present DJ MIX #582 with the French/ Canadian DJ and Producer Fred Everything - a key player in the world of House Music with two and a half decades in the music business and a discography of more than 250 releases to his credit.  This mix was recorded live at the Monkey Loft in Seattle just before the start of the pandemic in February 2020. Enjoy!

Born in Hull and raised in Quebec City, Fred caught the bug early for electronic music in high school, working summer jobs wash-ing dishes to buy his first synths. He then formed a few bands while spending his weekends as the youngest kid in local nightclubs. In the early 90s, he started playing live in raves and clubs across Canada. His first releases came out on labels such as DIY (UK), Vinyl Peace and ultimately 20:20 Vision, which launched Fred’s career in the UK and worldwide.

In the years that followed Fred Everything had an extremely fruitful time in the studio- both as a producer and remixer, releasing on countless respectable house music labels including launching his own Lazy Days imprint in 2005. The first release, Friday (Remixed by Trentemoller) became an instant classic and is still to this day the best seller on the label. Fast forward 10 years later, and Lazy Days has put out over 50 releases by esteemed artists such as : Shur-I-Kan, Ian Pooley, Kruse & Nuernberg, Atjazz, Tortured Soul, Crazy P, Greg Wilson as well as Fred’s own original projects, collaborations and remixes.

Successful in the licensing department, his productions have appeared on over 150 compilations worldwide by various artists such as Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Pete Tong, H-Foundation and Miguel Migs on labels like Fabric, Defected, Ministry of Sound, NRK, Universal and countless Ibiza compilations. His music was also used heavily for shows on MTV and was licensed to Virgin Airlines for their onboard entertainment system.

As a DJ, Fred has been a fixture in clubs worldwide, with his unique energetic style of mixing and ability to play with styles. He’s held residencies at SONA, Stereo and Salon Daome in Montreal as well as Next Door (Honolulu), Footwork (Toronto) and regular spots in places like Fabric (London), Smart Bar (Chicago) and Mighty(San Francisco). With over a million miles flown throughout the years, he’s played just about everywhere in the world with regular tours in Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, playing in cities such as Tel Aviv, Moscow, Istanbul, Sao Paulo and Dubai. He has also performed a festivals such as Coachella, Outside Lands, Woogie Weekend, Pik Nic Electronik, Igloofest, Coincidance, Francofolies de Larochelle and many more.

Here's my set from our Happy 4th Of July livestream via Monad Social featuring Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Destrada and yours truly. Opening for Mark and Sneak is always a chance to dive into the deeper side of things and explore facets of house both of these guys embody to the fullest. America is in a moment of real identity crisis and struggles abound everywhere you look but we didn't let that stop us from enjoying each other and letting the music speak to our deeper connection that no single moment in time can break. Whats up funky people!?! We are back with Volume 191 of the series and we head out to the west coast for some proper vibes served up by Radda Records head man, Jacob Poe from Portland, Oregon!

Jacob was first introduced to the electronic underground music scene in 1997; he was immediately drawn to the irresistible sound and set about getting his hands on every type of underground music he could find in his hometown of Portland, soon thereafter making his mark in the local scene as a House DJ.  Since emerging onto the scene Jacob has performed at various clubs and outdoor festivals from nearby Western states such as Montana, Washington, and his home state of Oregon to as far away as Italy.  Never one to adhere strictly to one style or genre of House music, Jacob combines his love of soulful, deep House with chunky, banging tech, finding the perfect balance between the styles and riding that wave to its crest, much to the delight of his steady, sweaty, dancefloor followers.  
 These days, in addition to performing out, you can find Jacob Poe feverishly working in the production studio, cranking out track after track of new material.  The sounds that drew him to collecting music and performing live now influence him in the studio as he creates his own original material; his love of funky, soulful, deep, techy, banging beats with hints of disco, jazz, and hiphop are clearly defined in his creations, and his dedication to creating original works shows.  Jacob has successful releases on mimosa recordings, Treasured Grooves, O.X.O Records, Ficus Tree, and Seven Records.

Jacob’s early successes in the production arena, his love for all types of music, and his persistent devotion to creating new material make him an artist to pay close attention to; he’s just getting warmed up, so slip on some comfy kicks and be sure to catch him performing live when you can.
