Whats up fam!  Had an absolute blast this past weekend playing the Social Grooves party in Victoria alongside DJ Dan, Colette and some of Vancouver Islands finest!  It was epic and I had the pleasure of opening things up with a 2 hour jazzy/groovy set. Hodges started taking on the Toronto's underground scene in the early 90ies, developing his DJing skills on the decks with the likes of New York - New Jersey sounds. His own music started coming out in the early 2000s, with various Toronto labels like Jinxx or 83 West and, in the following years, evolved in a high demanded remixer, working with DJ Sneak, Jully Black, Justin Timberlake, DJ Colette, DJ Heather, Derrick Carter, etc.

Jason kicked off 2022 with some great releases for Glasgow Underground, Refuge Recordings and Spacedisco...

America is in a moment of real identity crisis and struggles abound everywhere you look but we didn't let that stop us from enjoying each other and letting the music speak to our deeper connection that no single moment in time can break. "The mix starts off on the disco side of what I play and moves into house territory. It’s a selection of tracks I’m really feeling and playing and includes some of my recent productions. There are also a couple of exclusives forthcoming on some of the labels I look after such as Big Love, Glitterbox and Faith here at Defected HQ. Hope you enjoy!"

Seamus Haji’s experience is all part of the mix. He has been involved in nearly all aspects of the Music Business from working in London’s most influential dance music record shops for 10 years to A&R’ing for Slip’n’Slide Records, Defected Records and Strictly Rhythm to interviewing and reviewing for seminal Dance Music publications such as Muzik Magazine, DMC Update, DJ Mag, Touch and Echoes and of course, de rigueur stints on pirate radio Girls FM being the main on in the 90’s. Since 2002 he has also been at the helm of his own much-respected house music label, Big Love (also including sister imprints Big Love Trax and Soul Love) for which he has either A&R’d, produced, remixed (or all three) nearly 400 hundred singles and mixed over 20 compilations. The man's knowledge knows no bounds, and he exemplifies that here for us in the mix.

J.Dub is a unique and edgy presence in the Chicago house music pantheon with years of touring and genre smashing production under his belt. He’s toured North America and Europe extensively as a headlining DJ and lead vocalist for Greenskeepers as well as holding multiple residencies at clubs in Chicago, LA, Toronto, and Vancouver.  Material at the legendary Shelter nightclub, regular appearances at Red Dog, Karma, RedNoFive, and notably his Sorted night alongside DJ Heather at the iconic Smart Bar all culminated in his eventual sets at London DJ institutions Ministry of Sound, The End, and Turnmills.  Shows at Toronto’s Industry nightclub propelled him into Canadian house scene leading to tours across the country. His classic mixtapes released by Canadian imprint Blu Funk Recordings solidified his status as an underground house standout and must see live performer.  “Love On The Line”, “Vagabond”, “We Just Won't Stop”, “Through All This Stuff”, “Back and Forth”, “Master of Time”,  “Deepest Trip” and “Too Cool To Dance” are just a few of the buzz worthy vocal projects released by dance/indie labels DFA, Smash Hit, Rockstar, GKM, Farris Wheel, Homecoming and new label home Exploited. During the summer of 2008, J.Dub joined James Curd and L.A. DJ/Musician Chris Holmes in forming electro/rock/rap group Science & Industry.   This multi-talented artist has had past projects remixed by the likes of Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Stacy Pullen, 1200 Warriors, Chuck Love, JT Donaldson, Members Only, David Duriez and Jason Hodges. Vocal projects on Exploited Recordings with longtime collaborator James Curd opened new doors including extensive radio play in the states especially on L.A.’s globally recognized KCRW. J.Dub recently relocated to the City of Angels and has taken up the mantle of Label Manager for longtime friend and fellow Chicago expatriate Mark Farina’s Great Lakes Audio Recordings imprint.
