We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want Records is 
insanely proud to team up with the mighty Ze Records 
(Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Was Not Was, Lio...) 
for an exclusive re-edition of Garçons' no wave gem 
"Re-Bop".

The limited 12" vinyl includes the original song by 
Marie et les Garçons produced by John Cale, its 
infamous "Re-Bop Electronique" rework and a 
dancefloor-ready and Ivan Smagghe-approved edit by 
Tel Aviv producers Red Axes.

Garçons originated from Marie et les Garçons, a punk 
band from Lyon, France formed in the 70s by Patrick 
Vidal, Eric Fitoussi, Jean-Pierre Charriau and Marie. 
Quickly achieving cult status thanks to edgy releases, a 
performance at New York's legendary CBGB and 
sharing stages with Patti Smith and Talking Heads, 
the band lost Marie at the end of the decade and 
morphed into Garçons, a trio pursuing mutant disco 
and no wave fantaisies. The rest is history: a short 
career celebrated in the underground, a deserved place 
in France's best kept secret hall of fame, and a whole 
lot of timeless music.

A minimalist and hypnotic journey built on a deep, swinging groove. The track layers warm, analog bass pulses with intricate, delayed percussion that seems to emerge and recede within a blanket of atmospheric pads. There are no grand melodies or vocals; instead, subtle sonic textures and a sophisticated, looping rhythm create a sense of mysterious, forward-moving depth—like navigating through a sleek, electronic fog.

Through the Fog

Following their excellent Urgent Turquoise release for Om Recordings, the eclectic and ambitious San Francisco duo Tone of Arc have contributed their evocative sound to Roam Recordings’ second offering of 2016. Tone of Arc are comprised of Derrick Boyd (previously recording under the name Dead Seal) and Zoe Presnick … through well-received releases for the likes of No. 19 Music, Om Records, and Touch Of Class Records the pair have transmitted a series of moody electronic compositions that draw as much inspiration from cerebral post-punk gigs as sweaty, visceral dance floors. 

“Sundust” opens the single with its methodical tempo and haunting soundscapes, electrified by Derrick’s pensive words. The cut unfolds like a dream as layers of synths and vocal snippets build and vibrate throughout. “The Indigent” is a more stripped-down affair. A straight-forward four-on-the-floor rhythm, accented by big tom fills, creates the space for backwards pads and hinted melodies. It’s a mechanical meditation. Barcelona-based producer Lokier (HAKT, Days Of Being Wild) is also on hand for a haunting remix of “Sundust” that adds a commanding bass line and puts a spotlight on the vocal. Its steady forward motion is hypnotic in effect, intensifying the brain-to-feet aspect of Tone of Arc’s music.

Olimpiada Records have been kind enough to share Pines in the Sun - Zig Zag Sea, an EP which evokes the ocean to the point where you can almost taste salt in your mouth when you listen to it. Sun is the lead cut and opens with a meditative chant which is later joined in quite kindly by laidback disco sounds which set an irresistable tone before giving way to warm and life affirming guitar tones. 
Uj Pa Gaz and Olsi's new project is clearly here to bring the solar rays, the breeze and the distant sound of the waves through our ears and into our souls... Just make sure you bring a towel. Out July 11th on digital format.

Here in Calypso we are big fans of Mytron & Ofofo. Their track Something for the mind was one of our favourite tracks a couple of years ago. So when Mytron came to us saying that he took it upon himself to re-work some of our Take Aways we were more than delighted and didn't hesitated to ask him if he will like to release them with us.
So here they are, Peru's Aristidez and Brazil's Celestino get the Mytron threatment to take their tracks even to newer heights. The result is funky and dirty as you would expect from the man.
