Another wicked tune from Cetin, this time way lower tempo from his first tune "The Faith".. Cetin is busy searching his boundries, as much as he travels and tries he sees that the "SKY IS THE LIMIT"... His latest production, "Anywhere On This Moon" is definetly out of Istanbul. Amazing work again.

This piece is a mix of expressive vocals and driving beats. The base track is by Ipek Ipekcioglu and called Uyan Uyan, meaning “Wake Up, Realize” in Turkish [hence the eye fractal in the art cover]. I mixed this great track with two separate vocals: French vocals in the beginning, and Kurdish vocals later in the mix.  I layered additional percussion elements and piano sampled from Game of Thrones. 

The mix starts with French vocals. He expresses his desire to be like the wind, like the cloud, like the flame.

“…I'd like to be like the flame
from a wood fire
I'd like to be like the flame
from a wood fire
Just like the flame that rises, Lord
Dancing for You…”

Following is the Game of Thrones piano sample. It sounds sad and sure. It sets the stage for the Turkish vocals, which is full of sorrow, and perhaps reflecting the inner world of Kurdish lady who later comes in the mix. Turkish vocals say:

“…I became like rivers separated from the sea
I became like ashes of an extinguished fire
I became like roses that bloomed before their time
I am burning, my friend, from the pain you caused me…”

Then comes the Kurdish vocals. I couldn’t find the whole translation, but one does not have to know Kurdish to pick up the feeling in her voice. It is so candid and sad.  The only translation I could find is about the title, which translates something in the lines “offfff offffff, my heart”.

My favorite part of the mix is when both the Turkish and Kurdish vocals are layered on top. Kurdish vocals is perhaps calling for her love, while the Turkish vocals is hitting the message home, saying “Uyan Uyan Uyan” to the man.

What is a retouch? It is a highlight of some of the original mix ideas I discovered while exploring different elements, layering them on top of each other, and experimenting. I want to share it with the world and people who contributed to the source music.
