I’m Asad Khan — a producer, musician, singer, and DJ.

Formerly known as Khanvict, I built a career as a high-energy DJ — a path that reflected one part of me, but not all. My many parts didn’t always seem like they could exist in the same room,
let alone the same person.

Born in Pakistan, I’m deeply influenced by mystic Sufi philosophy, the listening traditions passed down from my grandfather, and my mother’s poetic sensibility. I was fortunate to be exposed to the greats of Pakistani music — Mehdi Hassan, Noor Jahan, and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan — from a very young age.

When I moved to Canada at 13, I was swept into the world of electronic music and its immersive soundscapes. I became both an engineer and an artist, rooted in heritage and modern innovation. For a long time, I felt I had to choose between tradition and experimentation, art and science, the East and the West — which left me feeling isolated and misunderstood. I didn’t quite belong anywhere, because I belonged to all of it. I now understand these worlds aren’t separate — they’re connected through my own, and our collective, existence.

My sound is about reclaiming that truth. I blend cinematic textures, rich low-end frequencies, and live instrumentation, drawing from Qawwali, Ghazal, and Indian classical forms. Committed to high-fidelity sound, I work to bring depth and clarity to classical and folk-rooted music. For me, it’s not about performance — it’s about connection: to self, to spirit, to others, and between worlds. I aim to create work that is timeless, ever-evolving, and deeply human.
