Matale is a visual artist and a Dj from Mitrovica, Kosovo. She is the co-founder of Bijat, a music collective dedicated to providing a platform for women and queers in the Prishtina electronic music scene. She’s also the co-founder of Prishtine is Burning, a club night
dedicated to the drag scene of Prishtina. Some of the main clubs and festivals who hosted her are Boiler Room, Sonic Acts, Dokunights, Club Drugstore, Dokutech, Popoff Kitchen etc. She was also a guest artist in some of the predominant world-famous radio shows of the underground scene like NTS Radio, Radio80000, Jerome Mixfile and Soft Spot.

Blush aims to help soothe the queer spectrum and focus on the well-being of the community. Queer DJs are invited to submit a mix to showcase an alternative side to their music library outside of a rave and take us on a meditative journey. ✨

Notes on the mix:

"This mix is quite special to me. As I took this opportunity to get out of my comfort zone while creating a mix, I chose to dig into music that had a strong impact on my life. Whether it was when I was daydreaming, going through a tough breakup, lost someone or tried to escape from reality. I picked tracks from all my major sources of inspiration as an artist but also as the queer adult that I became today; all these are discoveries from my teenage years going through young adulthood, they incorporate superstars I never got tired of, movie or video games OSTs. But at some point, they all had the same purpose: they helped my healing. I closed this coming of age story with a composition made purposefully for the show. Thank you."

CABALE (DJ, Producer) is a 90’s kid always in-between worlds, exploring the breakbeat energies around ghetto tech, techno and jungle. He made his debut in Shanghai, where he was a resident DJ for 2 years. From mall basements to pagodas, roaming the underground Chinese coast provided him with enough creativity to blossom in a peculiar way. Back in France, he has joined the Pinata Radio in Montpellier as a resident and published his first EP, Running Out (Les Disques du Lobby, 2023). This was followed by a live debut. Since then, he wanders places eager of his acid infused breaks, from Rinse France to Macadam (Nantes).

This mix was created by one of the truest underground angels of the Naarm/ Melbourne rave and hardcore scenes, Bridget Flack.

Writing this introduction has been difficult, however, it was important to Bridget that this mix be released and shared. She said it was the best mix she’d ever made.

We want to honour not only an amazing artist and DJ but also an incredible member of our community, whose impact on our underground music scene we want to celebrate. We know she put so much thought, effort and passion into creating this and we hope that in sharing it we can bring to you that same passion and energy that Bridget radiated each and every day of her life.

Below is the statement she sent us to publish alongside her mix;.
“It’s been said that DJ Brigida fell into the world of electronic music from ‘that one Chumbawamba album where they use a lot of breakbeat loops.’ From there her and her friends would pretend they enjoyed running and hosting punk shows, only until they realised how much easier it is when you throw parties and don’t invite bands, thus starting the Vapor Noir collective in 2016.

As a DJ, Brigida is easily distracted and capricious, technically favouring UK bass music but often straying in confusing and aesthetically annoying directions. She tries as much as possible to invade male spaces, be obnoxiously Trans, hide Communist discourse as well as Chumbawamba into her work, while pretending also to be a robot”

Happy New Year and welcome to 2021. 

We would like to take this time to firstly congratulate everyone reading for getting through the year that was 2020 and welcome them into 2021. 

We really hope that we can all party together soon, but for the time being we are continuing where we left off with the HER Transmission Mix series and bringing you another incredible mix from an incredible artists to really start 2021 off the right way!

HER Transmission #38 comes from the Bulgarian-born Copenhagen Based DJ and Producer, Vixen @vixen_vex

Vixen is one of the fastest rising talents coming from the incredible and ever growing underground scene in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. Since 2017, Vixen has been gaining momentum, both locally and internationally as a member of the renowned DIY collective Fast Forward @fastforwardproductions. As a DJ, her style has been described as ‘The High energy contact point between vibrant and playful trance-fuelled melodies, tongue-in-cheek vocals and floor-destroying industrial drums’. 

This mix is truly incredible and we want to thank Vixen so much for the submission and being part of the HER Tranmission series and giving us this opportunity to really put the right foot forward in 2021.
