Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, a weekly mix series showcasing incredible artists from around the world. For the 69th edition, we bring you this mix from Naarm artist, Brixx. 

With influences in cult cinema, new beat, EBM, Post-Punk and Techno, Naarm-based producer and DJ Brixx creates music that is underpinned by darkness, one that slowly bubbles to the surface and acts as a lens through which one can explore the human condition. 

In the past year, Brixx has released music on French labels, Filatures and Parfe Records, which include the release of her debut LP Corporate Punishment. As well as these outputs, Brixx also launched a club night called Short Circuit, which is an experimental space for DJs and live acts to play electronic music that is not tailored to the more mainstream dance floors.

@vaunamusic first entered the electronic music scene 2016 as a DJ and live-act, quickly making a name with his rhythmically funky, genre-crossing sound. Constantly shaping and refining his style, vauna’s live sets and productions have developed into contemporary techno, combining groovy, dusty rhythms with dirty industrial percussions and ravey synths. As a DJ, his track selection is naturally guided not by genre, but by vibe, sound and an everlasting love for playful weirdness. Dedication to creating unique arrangements and sounds has always been at the heart of vauna’s musical work.

"Taciturn" est une mini-série qui transcende sa définition d'origine et célèbre l'expression individuelle à travers une palette de sonorités et de rythmes effrénés, allant du break à la bass en passant par le dubstep.

Au cœur des émissions se trouvent des individus, chacun portant en lui un univers musical unique et vibrant. Les émissions visent à mettre en avant ces univers sonores, leur offrant ainsi une place dans une scène lausannoise parfois trop taciturne.

This mix was created by one of the truest underground angels of the Naarm/ Melbourne rave and hardcore scenes, Bridget Flack.

Writing this introduction has been difficult, however, it was important to Bridget that this mix be released and shared. She said it was the best mix she’d ever made.

We want to honour not only an amazing artist and DJ but also an incredible member of our community, whose impact on our underground music scene we want to celebrate. We know she put so much thought, effort and passion into creating this and we hope that in sharing it we can bring to you that same passion and energy that Bridget radiated each and every day of her life.

Below is the statement she sent us to publish alongside her mix;.
“It’s been said that DJ Brigida fell into the world of electronic music from ‘that one Chumbawamba album where they use a lot of breakbeat loops.’ From there her and her friends would pretend they enjoyed running and hosting punk shows, only until they realised how much easier it is when you throw parties and don’t invite bands, thus starting the Vapor Noir collective in 2016.

As a DJ, Brigida is easily distracted and capricious, technically favouring UK bass music but often straying in confusing and aesthetically annoying directions. She tries as much as possible to invade male spaces, be obnoxiously Trans, hide Communist discourse as well as Chumbawamba into her work, while pretending also to be a robot”

Happy New Year and welcome to 2021. 

We would like to take this time to firstly congratulate everyone reading for getting through the year that was 2020 and welcome them into 2021. 

We really hope that we can all party together soon, but for the time being we are continuing where we left off with the HER Transmission Mix series and bringing you another incredible mix from an incredible artists to really start 2021 off the right way!

HER Transmission #38 comes from the Bulgarian-born Copenhagen Based DJ and Producer, Vixen @vixen_vex

Vixen is one of the fastest rising talents coming from the incredible and ever growing underground scene in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. Since 2017, Vixen has been gaining momentum, both locally and internationally as a member of the renowned DIY collective Fast Forward @fastforwardproductions. As a DJ, her style has been described as ‘The High energy contact point between vibrant and playful trance-fuelled melodies, tongue-in-cheek vocals and floor-destroying industrial drums’. 

This mix is truly incredible and we want to thank Vixen so much for the submission and being part of the HER Tranmission series and giving us this opportunity to really put the right foot forward in 2021.
