Emma Dowdy is one of the many faces of Belgian producer, DJ and visual artist Gaspard Hers, also commonly known as DJ Würm. The sharp-cutting and yet fragile tones of the Bilirubyn EP sing to us about a radical shattering of the very borders of our known bodily reality, taking us on a journey deep inside a shadow forest. And just when we may be tempted to think that we can’t stumble any deeper, that we've gone as far as one can, the rusty beats pull us ever further, into the limitless core, where little creatures spin the threads of darkness into erupting, golden beams of light. Their melody then twists our arms into yellow ribbons, our blood mingling with theirs, pouring into shiny streams like water seeping through our own pointed teeth. Lost in the furry basses, no names remain to be called.

Amidst lockdowns and home isolations, we at HER 他 really wanted to keep the party alive (and responsible) while supporting and promoting great artists from around the world. As a result, we have today launched HER 他 Transmission. HER 他 Transmission will be a series of Mixtapes and Live recordings released weekly by artists who we love and inspire us.  

We are excited today to share with you the very first guest mix of our series, A powerful and emotion mixtape by DJ, producer and trans-LGBTQIA + activist Miriam Alegria, better known as @Wantonwitch.   Wanton Witch was born and raised in a small town in Borneo in the east of Malaysia. At the age of 19, she moved to Bangkok to begin her journey in the music world. Since arriving in Bangkok she has made waves in the local and international electronic music scene with her highly emotional, story-telling approach to sound and performance. Wonton Witch is also the co-founder of the queer dedicated Bangkok collective ‘Non Non Non’ and hardcore rave project ‘ELED’.   We met Wonton witch on an Asian tour in Bangkok where her collective, Non Non Non helped us in putting on what was said to be Bangkok's very first All-Female/ LGBTQIA + techno event. We were blown away by her DJ set, compassion and dedication to her art and what she believes in. 

We are very grateful to be able to launch our series with such a strong and upcoming artist.

Here in Melbourne, the Goth Weather is finally upon us and we still cannot legally rave. Today, however, to accommodate for this we bring you the third installment of our HER TRANSMISSIONS series. 

Transmission #3 is an energetic and strong mix from Indonesian artist, DJ, and fashion designer, Itta S.Mulia, AKA- MIXXIT. Hailing from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, MIXXIT has been DJing since 2018 and combines multiple genres and scenes to create her fun, high-energy DJ mixes. A single mix can see crosses between Electronic, techno, punk, metal, experimental music as well as Dangdut Koplo and other traditional forms of Indonesian/ Java music. 

We got to spend some time with Mixxit before the lockdowns on her Australian tour and were really moved by hearing her own story of how she has been working to create safe space for women in Yogyakarta by hosting events and having parties in her studio.

第十輯是台灣駐澳洲DJ Kaytseng在《HER他》墨爾本首場派對的現場錄音。沒機會來到現場的您還是可以用聽來穿越時空與Kaytseng一起尖叫蹦跳。

Our 10th transmission again takes us back to our Melbourne Launch party at the very very sadly missed Crazy Arms and was recorded by Melbourne-based Taiwanese DJ, Kaytseng. Somehow through all the sweat and vibes this mix was recovered and we are able to share the original recording with you for Her Transmission 010.

Kaytseng was born in Taiwan but now resides in Melbourne and is a regular on the Melbourne DJ circuit with her alternation between jumpy and jagged electro, Heavy pounding techno and aggressive EBM. Kaytseng has defied convention at every turn and this Live recording is proof of that. Big things!!!

Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series. A weekly mix series showcasing amazing artists from the world over. For the 49th edition, we bring you a mix from Chenta Tsai, AKA Putochinomaricón.

Putochinomaricón, (translated from Spanish to English comes out as ‘Fucking Chinese Faggot’) is an Asian-Spanish musician, producer, and artist currently based in Spain. Using Pop music, humour and irony As their tools, Tsai playfully protests against the socio-political reality and everydayness of the present moment.

Hard to define, but,  their own words, we give you,  Putochinomaricón -

 “By the time the haters get there, Putochinomaricón has already gone, His flow doesn’t match the music? Really? Do you think that Chenta Tsai doesn’t know that? He studied the violin in a conservatory from the age of seven… That his content, his lyrics and sounds are, ahem, tasteless? Yeah, well tastelessness is an intrinsic quality of consumerism, of everything kitsch, of punk and of protest. Are you saying that an electro polytone gay techno track can never be a protest one? Well, if you believe that pop is not a tool for activism then you haven’t even noticed that the mere existence of Putochinomaricón is already a denial of the banality and escapism of the influencer era. A columnist of El País and Rockdelux, architect, musician, producer, provocateur… Every triviality that this Taiwanese-born, Spanish raised artist from Madrid makes public (A Hello Kitty quote, a declaration of love to GFOTY...) is a statement against racism, against homophobia, against cisheteronormativity and against supposed good taste.  A guerrilla Warhol who is here basically ... to rub you up the wrong way. “
