Welcome back to a long awaited  Live from SPEED instalment of our mix series. For this next edition, we take you back to 24th February 2023, where SPEED teamed up with local promoter crew to Present Julia Govor. Here is Julia's recording from that special event.

A superstar techno producer with her own innovative and unique sounds, Julia Govor is the founder and curator of record label JUJUKA, as well as the co-founder of Radial. Currently based in New York, Julia has recently been featured on Bandcamp Daily as a best new Music producer. 

With original productions that the media has described as Rare, Beguiling and Mind filling, teamed with her dense, vivid DJ sets, Julia is enthusiastic and energetic with a charismatic fatal charm. Govor knows how to move and make others feel and engage.

Canadian DJ, artist, and event curator Critter is known for her eclectic, genre-fluid selections and high-energy sets. Honing her sound since her earliest days on the internet, she is a devoted digital crate digger who seamlessly blends hard and soft, favouring lush melodies, body-syncing basslines, and intricate percussive soundscapes.

The transformative power of dance music continuously inspires Critter, and has been a longstanding member of its communities and spaces near and far, including her Toronto-based queer party collective Pucker Up!

Boyzu Rabu is a professional illustrator by day and an otaku DJ by night. Their iconic selects include J-core, denpa music originating from the Otaku capital Akihabara and extremely deep cut hardcore remixes of their favorite anime & game OSTs. 

Japanese Moe & nerd culture is a huge inspiration in their body of visual and musical work. Doing cosplay as a hobby helped Boyzu Rabu finally achieve their dream of being a Real Anime Magical Warrior. Their sets have spanned New York, Tokyo, Bali and various venues and parties in Jakarta. Expect hyper cute HI-NRG genre mishmash of a set when they're behind the deck ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ ♡

現居柏林的台灣聲音藝術家Floating Spectrum在去年推出首張專輯《A Point Between》——用自己設計的 audio software 創造出燦爛有機的科技音景，驚艷實驗氛圍電子樂界。

聆聽Floating Spectrum為《HER 他》Transmission 009製作的Mixtape，充滿聲音張力的選曲，美的讓人屏息凝氣。

We are always excited ahead of time to share with you the amazing mixes we are sent for our Transmission series, and for number 9 this isn’t any different. HER 他 Transmission 009 comes to you via Taiwan born, Berlin-based musician and audio technologist, Mei-Fang Liau, otherwise known as Floating Spectrum. 

Floating Spectrum's music shimmers with elemental richness, as synths, meditative drones, and heavily processed samples evolve across layered environmental soundscapes. Her sonic journeys explore themes of growth, decay, and the contradictory place of humans within nature. 

As Floating Spectrum, Mei-Fang creates intuitive and emotional compositions from a technically rigorous practice, coding her own custom generative music engines and software synthesizers. Using self-made tools such as Polyphylla, her fractal-based synthesizer inspired by patterns in nature, she is able to craft a wide range of intricate, organic computer-based sounds with subtlety and depth.

For the 13th installment of the HER Transmission series, we are excited to take you to Japan and share with you this powerful, heavy-hitting, sonic mix by Japanese Multi-instrumentalist and composer, Yuko Araki. We really appreciate the diversity shown in this mix and hope that you guys will enjoy it.

As a child, Yuko Araki played piano but it was later in her teenage years that she was inspired by hardcore and metal music, which lead her down her eclectic path in a diverse range of projects such as drummer of the oriental/tribal dream-psych band Kuunatic, a founding member of Neo-Classical noise duo Concierto de la Familia as well as her own solo project that mixes harsh noise drones with layers of analog synthesizers, cymbals, and samples of traditional Japanese instruments.

Yuko released her debut album ‘II” in October 2019 through boutique Italian tape label Commando Vanessa.

Let’s mix things up a bit here. For the 19th installment of the HER 他 Transmission series, we reached out to the incredible Zhao Cong from Beijing, China. 

Zhao Cong is an experimental sound artist and improviser who uses everyday items to play and create in her world of improvised sound. Through items such as paper, metal, cloth, and strings combined with condenser and contact microphones, Cong is able to birth strange differences within sound using relatively simple actions. Happy Friday and happy 20th installment of the HER 他 Transmission mix series! One of the ideas we have tried to explore with this series is celebrating both local and international artists while giving a platform to so many artists and people that we enjoy, love, and want to celebrate. So for the 20th Transmission, we’re happy to share this mix by Naarm/ Melbourne DJ and Producer, Thao.

Under her DJ moniker, BB BAN GAS, and producer alias THU Care, Thao weaves her stories across multiple genres spanning from RnB and Hip- Hop to World Music and Field Recordings, using sounds formed from her daily life as part of a broader community and family. As a non-Black person, Thao wishes to acknowledge and pay respects to Black culture, Black Music, and its roots in slavery. 

Please enjoy this mix that crosses over between her DJ work as BB BAN GAS and the more experimental world/ambient fusion work of Thu Care.
