La selección de los temas corrió a cargo de Kiwi Morado, integrante de la banda de indie pop Hey Chica!, así como del músico electrónico Rubén Alonso Tamaño, aka FAX. Ambos, fans de Broadcast, uno de los proyectos de música electrónica experimental más innovadora y encantadora del decenio pasado. Enjoy it!

A Time to Love, A Time to Cry - Lou Johnson

Limited edition of 500 copies packaged in a heavy duty gatefold sleeve. 
On a long hot summer night in 2012 a meeting of minds happened in Liverpool, England. Damo Suzuki visited the city to play a show with MUGSTAR.
After a flurry of e-mails Damo requested MUGSTAR not to practice or figure out any music prior to the performance, as he believed it should “Start from Zero”.
Leaving the whole performance to be entirely improvised on the spot.
It proved to be quite a night: the shamanic presence of the legendary Damo Suzuki immersed in the full-on, intense, sound of MUGSTAR - one of the leading bands currently exploring fresh and uncharted areas - as they forge forward through the deep space of kraut/psych.
The music that emerged that evening moved through driving, head-spinning double wah-wah attacks, eerie ethereal passages and on to an extended motorik coda, all powered along by thunderous bass and drums.
Damo settled in immediately, a master of his own unique art. Surging along with MUGSTAR as “sound carriers”, absorbed in the energy and atmosphere through to the shows exhausting end. It’s a great pairing.

Unearthed by renowned record collector and music historian DJ Amir, BBE Music presents the first ever reissue of rare 1978 jazz-fusion album ‘The Jupiter Effect’ by The Larry Rose Band.

Recorded in Amsterdam by a Dutch/American quintet of players, released on eclectic Dutch label Crossroad, ‘The Jupiter Effect’ was the sole offering from multi-instrumentalist Larry Rose and his band.

Having performed in various groups, most notably The Liquid Blues Band, which featured Lex Silva on bass and Clay Cotton on B3 (these two would go on to play with John Lee Hooker and Charlie Musslewhite respectively), a young Larry Rose dropped out of college and bought a one-way ticket to Europe, where he’s spend the next few years in Amsterdam as a musical adventurer, trading guitar lessons for rent and living out his dreams.

In late 1975, Larry met fellow American songwriter Stanley Davis and formed The Larry Rose Band. In their first iteration, the group played rock’n’roll covers across Holland and Germany, until Larry and Stanley splintered off in 1977 to create their own jazz-tinged material with new members Toon Janssen (drums / percussion) and Theo van Halen (saxophones). When Larry’s old friend, American vocalist Paul Pinto visited Amsterdam in ’78, the band invited him to join them in the studio to record their first (and what would be their only) album, The Jupiter Effect.

On this special album, The Larry Rose Band’s myriad influences and inspirations are on display, from blues through rock to jazz and beyond, all played by a dazzlingly talented group of young players, road-hardened and at the height of their powers.

Since his departure from the seminal Black Metal band MAYHEM, Maniac has expanded his horizons considerably, moving firmly away from the Black Metal genre with which he is so closely associated, to concentrate on his own bands, one of them being the Blackened Doom project SKITLIV. With a line up that includes SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth on guitars and backing vocals, and with guest appearances from musical luminaries such as David Tibet (CURRENT 93), Gaahl (GOD SEED, WARDRUNA) and Atilla (SUNN 0))), MAYHEM), SKITLIV recently released the critically acclaimed debut album “Skandinavisk Misantropi” on Season of Mist.

“In these last days/There’s not much to say/So you might as well sing.” This lyric pops up a few times over the course of The Godward Way, a 23-minute meditation that serves as the sole track on Daniel Higgs‘ session for the Latitudes series.
Higgs was long a mysterious and enigmatic force as part of minimal post-punk bands like Lungfish and the Pupils, but when he struck out under his own name, things got truly intense. Albums like 2010′s Say God were some strange mesh of insane street sermon and acid folk journey, with extended drones competing with Higgs’ near-violent spiritual rant. Godward Way is a slightly different shade of the same material. Phasing through long sections of seemingly improvised raga-esque passages of banjo and droning organ, Higgs breaks up…
