A bit of soul, a little funky, housy and deep - very danceable and a permanent groove. That's how you can describe Emanuel's style, which he bombards his audiences with - Live, in fact!  This typical Frankfurt guy began his career as a DJ , inspired by Motown and hip-hop and an internship at Cocoon. Fascinated by the likes of Sven Vath, Luciano or Villalobos, DJing only wasn't enough any more. He wanted to play his own tracks. Releases with CECILLE RECORDS, SOUVENIR, NOIR MUSIC and BOUQ and the  putting together of own live sets were the successful conclusion. Support and charting came from the highest ranks: DJ T., Butch, Noir, Tiefschwarz, Huxley and Carlo Lio (just to name a few). 
A class of its own, joining the MFF family.

Diynamic Radio Show April 2014 by Ost & Kjex

If there was a prize for the most quality releases in 2014 so far, it should be given to Origins Sound without looking any further. Going deeper on the "Detroit Cuts" or at full throttle on the "Dallas" EP, they display an impressive array of styles whilst developing a recognizable trademark sound. The forthcoming "Test Tape / MindField" EP takes it to another level by combining their melodic, lively basslines with atmospheric sounds and some catchy vocals. 

Listening to their mix for our podcast, it's easy to imagine that the two glaswegians are looking forward to their first show in Germany, which happens to be on May 10 along with big fishes Boddika and Tom Demac. They mix flawlessly through some deep, bouncy tech house tunes that anticipate the vibe on a sunny day at an open air club in an industrial setting like Hafen 49 in Mannheim. Towards the end, things are getting more serious and the added techno flavor provides a perfect preview for the second part of the event which is going to take place at the notorious Loft Club.

Tronic Podcast 143 with Christian Smith

I came across Ian's work a few years ago when i also started releasing on Kevin's KMS Records.
His first EP "Uprising" was a huge success and made me fell in love with his music.

After more appearances on KMS,  Christian Smith's Tronic imprint and Detone, he also made it to Adam Beyer's Drumcode with a single track called "The Border" which appears on his guest mix and will be released in May.

Derrick May is one of our main headliners at Rejected's Amsterdam Dance Event 2012 night at Studio 80, 18th of october.
Since my early dj days, I consider Derrick May as a huge inspiration, and in particular this dj set. Broadcasted live in 1996 from the legendary Chemistry night at Escape, Amsterdam. It was recorded from midnight radio by my partner in crime Edwin Oosterwal who borrowed me the cassette tape which I never gave back to him, which reminds me I should do that sometime soon.

In this mix, Derrick May shows us that in 1996 dance wasn't pigeonholed to one style or sound. He mixes Moodymann's groovy deephouse with Jeff Mills and Surgeon's raw techno. He goes from Donna Summer's disco to Tyree Cooper's jacking electronic funk, from Masters of Work's new york house to Ian Pooley's epic chord techno. All of this is mixed in a fast and skillful pace, a style that so clearly carries Derrick's signature.

There's some truly magical moments in this mix, how he get's out of Surgeon's 'Syllable' into Global Communication's 'Sensorama' at 1:09 leaves me speechless..

Even though by now I know most of the record he plays here, there's still a few I've been looking since the very first time I heard this mix. Would be great to get the tracklist completed, any help is greatly appreciated!

Ian O'Donovan - IOD Sessions 011 - November 2012

Many times, biographies of techno acts start by singing their praise of an extremely early,
extraordinary talent on synthesizers and other electronic devices.

In Heron’s case, things are different. Because Martin Spittel has been shaped musically since his childhood, the influences were as diverse as music can be.

On one side, there was his grandfather, who played various instruments, and to whom young Martin related closest to and whose influence still lasts until today. On the other side there were his cousins who were not much older than himself, enthusiastic about AC/DC, and band members themselves. Over the course of the following years, he explored the diversity of Black, Death and Trash Metal, EBM and Industrial, right up to Detroit Techno.

Ever since then, Heron's environment served as compensation to ferce parties and expanding his musical horizon. This symbiosis from the love of nature and the musical influences from his early childhood are a direct reflection of Heron’s entire life.

Following the scream of the waders (limicoline birds), he moved to picturesque island Norderney in 2003. There, exploring the island’s national park, he decided to live up to his enthusiasm about nature by going to study landscape ecology at the University of Münster. It turned out: The relocation to Münster was the initial spark for his career; the months in Norderney were inspiration for the name of his label “Limikola” which was founded in late 2008 and enjoyed enormous support by both DJs and fans.

After launching his now very successful °Schaltkreis-parties with four friends in mid-2007, everything went quickly: His first own radio show “The Grasshopper Warbler”, contacts to prominent players like Someone Else and Heartthrob, and finally the moment in early 2008 during the season’s opening at Time Warp, when Richie Hawtin played all three tracks from Heron’s Retro EP. It was merely his second EP, released on a netlabel (Minisome), and it became immediately successful. A knightly accolade.

The journey that Heron started lead to his bombshell track “Welcome to the Adventure Club” that charted in the Beatport charts in 2008, and continued with remixes and releases for Synewave, Supdub, Swap, micro.fon, Prosthetic Pressings and Sleaze Records. In 2010, it culminated with a tour across North America during the summer.

Two years later he released his very first EP on the legendary Detroit label KMS Records, owned by Kevin Saunderson, followed by remixes for Drumcomplex, P-Ben and Chris Gekä, one collaboration project with Inner City's Ann Saunderson and his second solo release „Ride The Pride“. Furthermore he made the step into the Soma family by publishing three solo EPs and an EP with Kevin's son Dantiez Saunderson, as well as he started to release on Florian Meindl's FLASH Recordings.
