Um euch die Zeit zu unserem Album mit Thalstroem im Oktober auf Burlesque Musique zu verkürzen, haben wir hier schon mal einen kleinen Vorgeschmack, der bei der Arbeit mit Northern Lite eigentlich eher nebenbei entstanden ist. Schönen Sommer euch!

Die Single „Take My Time“ ist nicht nur die erste Kollaboration von AKA AKA & Thalstroem und Northern Lite, sondern mal wieder der Beweis: Die Intuition ist der innere Kompass, der einem den richtigen Weg weist. Als das Berliner Trio nämlich gerade die Puzzle-Stücke seines zweiten Albums zusammenführte, fehlte noch ein entscheidendes Detail: ein Sänger. Kennengelernt bei einem sympathischen Umtrunk während eines gemeinsamen Gigs, erinnerten sich die Macher vom Label Burlesque Musique an ihre Erfurter Kollegen und die einhellige Absicht, irgendwann mal miteinander ins Studio zu gehen.
„Take My Time“ ist einer von insgesamt drei gemeinsam entstandenen Tracks, der mit seinem nachdenklichen Vibe einen interessanten Einblick ins kommende AKA AKA & Thalstroem Album gewährt. Von der tapsigen Percussion, so als würden Steine über die Wasseroberfläche hüpfen, über die erhabenen Streicher bis hin zur unmittelbar eindringlichen Stimme von Northern Life-Sänger Andreas Kubat – „Take My Time“ beginnt direkt mit fesselnder Gänsehaut. Während die Lyrics den Konflikt zwischen Ungeduld, Vorfreude und Gelassenheit reflektieren, wachsen verspielte Chords zu einer fast schon nostalgischen Melodie zusammen. Spätestens zum Schluss verschmelzen die Kontraste beider Künstlerkollektive zu einer Einheit, wenn der Dialog zwischen Akustik-Gitarre und filigranen Beats den beeindruckend versunkenen Epilog markiert. Der Berliner Alle Farben zieht seinen Remix von „Take My Time“ nicht nur Richtung Dancefloor, der DJ und Live-Act betont sowohl die perkussiven Nuancen als auch die akustischen Instrumente und fügt seiner Version sogar ein kleines Gitarren-Solo hinzu. Ob Remix oder Original: „Take My Time“ von AKA AKA & Thalstroem und Northern Lite erinnert an eine allzu wahre Botschaft: Carpe diem!

„Take My Time“ isn’t just the first collaboration between AKA AKA & Thalstroem and Northern Lite, their single is also proving: Intuition is the inner compass that guides us in the right direction. „Take My Time“ is one out of three mutually produced tracks, and with its thoughtful vibe it’s offering an interesting insight into the highly anticipated LP by AKA AKA & Thalstroem. From the lumbering percussion, as if stones would skip over calm water, to the sublime strings to the immediately strong voice of Northern Lite’s front man Andreas Kubat – „Take My Time“ causes captivating goose bumps straight from the beginning. While the lyrics reflecting the conflict among impatience, anticipation and tranquility, playful chords melting into an almost nostalgic melody. The contrasts of both creative collectives are merging into each other at the end once again, when the dialogue between the acoustic guitar and some delicate beats marks the impressive sunken epilogue. The Berlin-based DJ and live act Alle Farben not only pulls his remix of „Take My Time“ towards the dance floor, he’s emphasizing both the percussive details as well as acoustic instruments by also adding a small guitar solo to his arrangement. Whether remix or original, „Take My Time“ by AKA AKA & Thalstroem and Northern Lite put a true message in our mind: carpe diem!

Many times, biographies of techno acts start by singing their praise of an extremely early,
extraordinary talent on synthesizers and other electronic devices.

In Heron’s case, things are different. Because Martin Spittel has been shaped musically since his childhood, the influences were as diverse as music can be.

On one side, there was his grandfather, who played various instruments, and to whom young Martin related closest to and whose influence still lasts until today. On the other side there were his cousins who were not much older than himself, enthusiastic about AC/DC, and band members themselves. Over the course of the following years, he explored the diversity of Black, Death and Trash Metal, EBM and Industrial, right up to Detroit Techno.

Ever since then, Heron's environment served as compensation to ferce parties and expanding his musical horizon. This symbiosis from the love of nature and the musical influences from his early childhood are a direct reflection of Heron’s entire life.

Following the scream of the waders (limicoline birds), he moved to picturesque island Norderney in 2003. There, exploring the island’s national park, he decided to live up to his enthusiasm about nature by going to study landscape ecology at the University of Münster. It turned out: The relocation to Münster was the initial spark for his career; the months in Norderney were inspiration for the name of his label “Limikola” which was founded in late 2008 and enjoyed enormous support by both DJs and fans.

After launching his now very successful °Schaltkreis-parties with four friends in mid-2007, everything went quickly: His first own radio show “The Grasshopper Warbler”, contacts to prominent players like Someone Else and Heartthrob, and finally the moment in early 2008 during the season’s opening at Time Warp, when Richie Hawtin played all three tracks from Heron’s Retro EP. It was merely his second EP, released on a netlabel (Minisome), and it became immediately successful. A knightly accolade.

The journey that Heron started lead to his bombshell track “Welcome to the Adventure Club” that charted in the Beatport charts in 2008, and continued with remixes and releases for Synewave, Supdub, Swap, micro.fon, Prosthetic Pressings and Sleaze Records. In 2010, it culminated with a tour across North America during the summer.

Two years later he released his very first EP on the legendary Detroit label KMS Records, owned by Kevin Saunderson, followed by remixes for Drumcomplex, P-Ben and Chris Gekä, one collaboration project with Inner City's Ann Saunderson and his second solo release „Ride The Pride“. Furthermore he made the step into the Soma family by publishing three solo EPs and an EP with Kevin's son Dantiez Saunderson, as well as he started to release on Florian Meindl's FLASH Recordings.
