ARTIST BIO moKA

Coming from the world of film score, moKA uses all the musical elements to make the listener not only hear but also see the music.

During the last years he used a lot of music production tools to perfect his musical style during his live mixes on 4 decks as well as original productions. 

2018 is promising to be the breakthrough year for moKA; with Mazinger EP march release by German label Antarctic Records, a second EP in April and multiple international collaborations which will culminate with the release of his first album this Summer. 

In addition to his monthly events at Grand Cru Sessions in RedRoom, He will debut in Salon Daomé in march and Orign in April. moKA is also the creator of the first Social House in Montreal which is an exclusive gathering of the local community of djs/ Producers.

After her final exams she started to do apprenticeships in various enterprises like a company that published a music magazine or in a promotion company for music bands. She would become involved with the musical industry by working as A&R for different labels and learning from top names the true ways of the musical journey.
She is known for her love for the 12””, especially the limited and colored ones , and she spend a lot of her time in listening and preparing her own vinyl collection.
In 2011 Larisse started her own DJ and producing carrier. Her sets are influenced by that specific 12”” electronic sound.
With releases on Rawthentic , Circus Recordings , Stereo Production , Natural Rhythm , Quanticman Records , Bouq , Tanzbar , she proves that Romania is a fertile ground for young producers .
LVD has a very electic taste for special tracks , tracks that move the crowd in any direction she wants. Melodic , energetic and balanced in the same time , a gig with LVD is a journey through music , sound and more.

999999999 is an abstract concept from the minds of two people who do not feel the need to define it. It is spontaneous, random, unlimited. This project, officially started in July 2016, has already affected several important Clubs and Parties in different cities in Europe and aroused much interest even outside the continent. First two releases on their label "Nine Times Nine" and the most recent appearance on Planet Rhythm special "303" vinyl release were immediately sold out after few hours. Live is what they are whether in or out of the studio, they are spontaneous. Improvisation with hardware is the key element of their performance and is impossible to replicate.

I was honored to play alongside the Sender Berlin duo and Alexander Lukat last month at Alexander Kowalski's birthday bash at Suicide Cicus and luckily they contributed the last hour of their absolutely amazing dj set for this months issue.
Known for their strong and loyal connection to the legendary Tresor and the Tresor label, Sender Berlin have been a solid and indispensable part of the german Techno scene since the beginning of their journey and their first release in 1998.

They proved this without exception that night in February - and Alexander Lukat, known for his residency at the Tresor, his timeless mix CD on Sender Berlin's groundbreaking album Spektrum Weltweit and his productions with Heiko Laux, which brought him to Rejected and Ovum, contributed to this beautiful journey that evening.

Philippe Petit has been around the dance music scene for more than 25 years.  Originally from Brussels, Belgium, when he was not playing in his thrash metal bands, he was going out but did not like the music he was hearing. That is when he started DJing. Very eclectic in the beginning, he quickly veered towards funk, hip hop and acid jazz in the early nineties, playing afterparties for Guru, Ronnie Jordan, Galliano, the Goats, Palm Skin Productions. In 1995, he moved to London. Having stopped his sweaty metal activities, he needed to find another way to release all his extra energy, this time on his own. That is the reason why slowly but surely he started to incorporate more and more techno into his DJ sets. By 1997, it was only techno that was coming out of his needles. Having no time to start producing tracks, he focused mainly on playing gigs across London, as well as the one-off gigs in Belgium, France, Italy and Spain, mixing deep house and techno, always with a funk twist.
By 2000, he was sharing his time between Chamonix and London and in 2010 he moved permanently to Chamonix where he now spends 100% of his time focusing on making music and DJing. He launched two record labels: Knotweed Records​ in 2011 and Decision Making Theory​ (DMT) in 2013.

As Philippe is composing music mainly when the weather grounds him at home, the dark atmosphere of the steep-sided mountain environment can be felt in his tracks. Techno, Detroit influenced, hypnotic, dubby, but always with a funk element. The key here is energy and groove!
Philippe has played in renowed European clubs such as Berghain / Panorama Bar, Tresor Berlin​, Corsica Studios​, Ninkasi Kao​.

Many times, biographies of techno acts start by singing their praise of an extremely early,
extraordinary talent on synthesizers and other electronic devices.

In Heron’s case, things are different. Because Martin Spittel has been shaped musically since his childhood, the influences were as diverse as music can be.

On one side, there was his grandfather, who played various instruments, and to whom young Martin related closest to and whose influence still lasts until today. On the other side there were his cousins who were not much older than himself, enthusiastic about AC/DC, and band members themselves. Over the course of the following years, he explored the diversity of Black, Death and Trash Metal, EBM and Industrial, right up to Detroit Techno.

Ever since then, Heron's environment served as compensation to ferce parties and expanding his musical horizon. This symbiosis from the love of nature and the musical influences from his early childhood are a direct reflection of Heron’s entire life.

Following the scream of the waders (limicoline birds), he moved to picturesque island Norderney in 2003. There, exploring the island’s national park, he decided to live up to his enthusiasm about nature by going to study landscape ecology at the University of Münster. It turned out: The relocation to Münster was the initial spark for his career; the months in Norderney were inspiration for the name of his label “Limikola” which was founded in late 2008 and enjoyed enormous support by both DJs and fans.

After launching his now very successful °Schaltkreis-parties with four friends in mid-2007, everything went quickly: His first own radio show “The Grasshopper Warbler”, contacts to prominent players like Someone Else and Heartthrob, and finally the moment in early 2008 during the season’s opening at Time Warp, when Richie Hawtin played all three tracks from Heron’s Retro EP. It was merely his second EP, released on a netlabel (Minisome), and it became immediately successful. A knightly accolade.

The journey that Heron started lead to his bombshell track “Welcome to the Adventure Club” that charted in the Beatport charts in 2008, and continued with remixes and releases for Synewave, Supdub, Swap, micro.fon, Prosthetic Pressings and Sleaze Records. In 2010, it culminated with a tour across North America during the summer.

Two years later he released his very first EP on the legendary Detroit label KMS Records, owned by Kevin Saunderson, followed by remixes for Drumcomplex, P-Ben and Chris Gekä, one collaboration project with Inner City's Ann Saunderson and his second solo release „Ride The Pride“. Furthermore he made the step into the Soma family by publishing three solo EPs and an EP with Kevin's son Dantiez Saunderson, as well as he started to release on Florian Meindl's FLASH Recordings.
